Nov 1, 2015 2:03 PM in response to Phil_from_Gideon-ITby Research says,I did not upgrade my notes and I still can't sync iPhone notes with outlook. The option to select a notes data file for sync within iTunes is no longer available. Notes just don't sync.
The new Apple notes should have been launched as a new and separate application, not as an atomic bomb for existing notes users. If I wanted an application that allowed me to draw notes and create checklists, I would have looked for a new application with those features. I'm now looking for a new application that will replace what I used to have. Anyone have any suggestions?
I am very unhappy about the loss of my notes sync with outlook. This is the same thing that happened with to dos. iPhone reminders don't sync with outlook either. Apple seems to be forcing users to move away from outlook by removing connections to it one by one. I guess calendar sync will be next?

Nov 2, 2015 1:53 AM in response to Phil_from_Gideon-ITby Phil_from_Gideon-IT,Today I had a call from Orla O'Sullivan (Senior Technical Support Advisor UK/IRL) about this Notes sync in response to the letters I sent to Tim Cook, Eddie Cue and Craig Federighi; and she was very sympathetic and promised to log a feature request with the developers to re-instate the Notes sync within iTunes.
She was realistic about the chances of success and said those chances are entirely dependent upon the amount of people requesting this. So please please do send a letter through the post to Tim Cook etc requesting this feature to be re-instated and post this advice on any other forums that you have mentioned this issue in. There's been 209 comments to my original post just on this one thread, and there are several other similar posts on Apple's forums. There are a lot of people hurting over this functionality downgrade and it has genuinely made day-to-day use of the iOS devices worse for Windows PC users.
Apple moderators PLEASE DO NOT DELETE THIS POST! This is part of the solution to a technical problem, to enlist the help of others.
I cannot get Akruto Sync to work at all, which is annoying and CompanionLink's iOS Note's software is ghastly so neither of those are viable solutions. I tried migrating to OneNote but that software is also ghastly, horrifically over-complex and badly designed. The UI is one of the worst I've ever seen. So unless someone else comes up with a 3rd party Office Outlook Notes sync tool then we'll just have to wait for Apple and iOS 9.x or 10.x for a feature re-introduction.
(I'm not holding my breath). -
Nov 2, 2015 2:05 AM in response to Phil_from_Gideon-ITby ajobpd,Very good suggestion, and I suffer too from the loss of Notes backup introduced without warning.
I will write a polite and explicative letter from Europe, but to save a search, could you please supply, if not against rules here, the postal address?
Or refer to a prior post if already done?
Many thanks!

Nov 2, 2015 3:16 AM in response to Phil_from_Gideon-ITby ajobpd,@ Phil_from_Gideon-IT:
Thank you for the addresses, I will write tomorrow.
I enquired within my extended family, most of us use iPhones and also adopted Notes in many ways and we often commented how convenient it was, after a phone loss or upgrade, to seamlessly recover the whole contents with the iTunes backup -- but not anymore for Notes!
Also, most of us do not use iCloud -- for many different reasons, but we don't.
So the loss of Notes backup is getting the family nerds looking for a different phone solution, but it's a pity.
Akruto looks and may be working fine, but most of us just won't bother to climb on that learning curve, knowing that any future iOS release may again suddenly invalidate that solution.
We would be happy:
1. to go back to Notes backup in Outlook, or
2. create a new, local Notes section in iTunes where the Notes backup is stored and viewable -- same as for music and photos.
Meanwhile we collectively hold our breath hoping not to break iPhones whose Notes contents has no backup and may be lost forever!
A final comment: I have no problem with companies like Apple creating user problems while improving their products -- it happens -- but I have a big disappointment if, once notified about the problem, they do not respond, explain or, hopefully, remedy the problem.

Nov 2, 2015 3:44 AM in response to Phil_from_Gideon-ITby pepeidolioquintanilla,Can't be done through e-mail?.

Nov 2, 2015 5:14 AM in response to pepeidolioquintanillaby Phil_from_Gideon-IT,No direct email addresses for these people - plus nothing says 'I'm serious about this problem' better than a physical letter in the post.

Nov 2, 2015 1:56 PM in response to vickiefromkingmanby gadgetphan,You can back up your notes on your iPhone and Outlook. Then try Akruto. I back up up everything before trying anything.

Nov 3, 2015 2:39 AM in response to Phil_from_Gideon-ITby pepeidolioquintanilla,Just to inform: I've totally discarded the Apple Notes in the iOS and I'm using the CompanionLink for the notes and I've "hidden" to the last page the Notes application in the iPhone.
It sync perfectly with the outlook with wifi, USB or Internet (I prefer now this option because I want to use USB).
It works well with Outlook and you can sync ONLY Notes. So, simply you change of the "Notes" application to Companionlink. Anyway, it has a cost (49$ if I remember well) and you for sync you must press button on the desktop and start the application in the iphone.
Anyway, it is a pity and sending letters to the Apple Directive's Olympus (from a poor mortal...).

Nov 4, 2015 1:02 AM in response to Research saysby DubaiCal,After 13 years on Notes - I've made the jump to MS Onenote
That was 12 hours I would rather have spent doing something else and the LAST thing I wanted to do was embark on yet another app learning curve, BUT Onenote is feature-filled and I particularly like the security features
- and as someone below previously suggested, I did get some satisfaction out of installing a Microsoft app on my iPhone to do what Apple couldn't. -
Nov 4, 2015 10:09 AM in response to DubaiCalby ricardofromwest palm beach,I did the same weeks ago after the sync issue started. MS One Note: Excellent!

Nov 4, 2015 6:49 PM in response to DubaiCalby Monarke4,OneNote cannot be directly synced to Outlook. From everything I have read Onenote requires you to store the information in MS SkyDrive. That's one less level of security. My data is mine, I don't need it floating around on some server outside in which it can be argued how secure it is. If you want to truly be secure don't put it out there for anyone and everyone to gain access too.

Nov 12, 2015 10:13 AM in response to 540perryby urq10v4me,Incredible indeed, I also rely on my notes and not being able to sync them is ridiculous. So first they take of the genius mix and now the notes. What's next? My contract is up for renewal next month and although I have been a loyal iPhone, iPod and iPad user since their birth I am unfortunately going to jump ship. Come on wake up and listen to you loyal customers.
