Q: Where can I find the original photo files that I import from my iPhone and SD card on my Mac? When I search the Finder for the file names, I don't see them.

I can't find the original photo files on my Mac after I import them through Photos. Where can I find them?

MacBook Pro (15-inch Mid 2009), OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

Pictures that have been imported into Photos reside inside the Photos library. You should not muck with them there. If you need a Finder-accessible copy of a picture, export it to a Finder folder.

PBI - How would one go about doing that? I'm still on Mavericks (so I have iPhoto still) but my iphone and ipad are both using latest ios 9.x.

    Thanks.

Assuming you did, in fact, import the pictures into iPhoto, use "Export..." in the File menu of iPhoto. Pretty much the same answer as to the original question.
