Q: Swap memory usage is too high

My macbook air Specifications are
- OS X Yosemite
- Intel core i5 1.7Ghz
- 4GB of ram

My problem is with the RAM it self whenever i turn on the mac the memory used is 3.95GB out of 4 GB, why that happens even only few apps are on
e.g. Chrome,finder & notes app ?

Anyway, i have installed some applications for school purposes e.g. Virtual machine & xCode if i run one of them the swap memory jumps from ~60MB to 500MB ?
The last time i ran xCode & virtual machine the swap memory used was around 1GB isn't that weird ?

Because whenever that happens the mac gets very very very slow.

Thanks in advance.

That actually is normal for the newer OSX's:

The amount od RAM in use is no longer the important metrick, PRESSURE is.

One cannot increase RAM in a MBA so close down eveyrthing else that you are not using and see if performance improves.

    Ciao.
