Nov 1, 2015 11:30 PM in response to dwaanby dimonnwc3,I have found the solution for me. It was because of my router. I have changed from ASUS RT-N14U to Airport Express. Now everything is good.

Nov 1, 2015 11:39 PM in response to dimonnwc3by dwaan,As far as I know, it doesn't need router to function properly, I manage to AirDrop just fine before just by using bluetooth in Maverick and iOS 8.

Nov 8, 2015 10:18 AM in response to Vahidfromnyby bhaskarbhat,I think so too!
I had clean reinstalled OS X 10.11 and Air Drop worked fine! But the moment I updated to OS X 10.11.1 it stopped working. In last couple of days, I did test this twice!
One more issue I noticed is, AirDrop fails if I use Apple ID in the user set up, so I managed to create the separate password and use name while setting up the OS X installation. In addition, I suspected signing into Apple ID while updating could cause AirDrop failure, but I see that it still fails even if you ignore entering iCloud while setting up.
Yeah today's Apple still does well at Demo and then actual service fails miserably.

Nov 14, 2015 11:02 PM in response to dwaanby what_was_it,I have the exact same issue trying to AirDrop from my iPhone 6S+ and iPad Air 2 running iOS 9.1 to late 2013 15" rMBP running OS X 10.11.1. The MBP can see both iOS devices within 10 to 15 seconds, and the iOS devices can see each other, but neither of the iOS devices can see the MBP. Have reset network settings on iPhone, power cycled both iPhone and MBP, logged into another user account, turned on/off WiFi, Bluetooth, AirDrop, changed discoverability... Always with the same result: rMBP and iOS devices see iOS devices, but iOS devices never see the rMBP.

Nov 15, 2015 9:45 PM in response to dwaanby skywalker01,I had the same problem. Airdrop did not work between iPhone 6 (iOS 9.1) and MBP (mid 2012) on OS X 10.11.1 at home. I have a NetGear router. Sorry for missing out on the technical details. Will check & confirm if needed.
However, within office wi-fi it's working fine.

Nov 17, 2015 9:07 PM in response to dwaanby sithjedi33,Try going into your settings through the bottom menu where you push up to get it where blutooth settings, etc. is. Change Airdrop to EVERYONE instead of contacts only. See if that does it! It worked for me!

Dec 2, 2015 6:29 AM in response to dwaanby Pibe75,I have an iPhone 5C and and iPad mini. Airdrop between the two iOS devices works well.
I also have a MacBook Air and an iMac, and it also works correctly among those two devices running El Captain.
The problem is between iOS and El Captain.
I've tried all the solutions proposed in these fora, but couldn't solve the problem.
Will Apple prepare an update soon?
I use Airdrop a lot and I need a solution urgently!
Thanks!
