Nov 1, 2015 10:13 PM in response to JimR 2by markwmsn,When you migrate your iPhoto library into Photos, every album will be transferred to an album of the same name (in a folder if it was in a folder, otherwise not), and every event will be transferred to an equivalent album with the same name and placed inside the special "iPhoto Events" folder.

See this link: How Photos handles content and metadata from iPhoto and Aperture - Apple Support
Photos does not structure the library into events - it uses moments instead, and they are created completely automatically, based on the capture date and the location. You cannot control this structure, and you cannot name the the moments. The moments will be named by the locations and the date. So it will help tremendously if your photos have locations assigned. If your photos do not have locations assigned, assign them in iPhoto while you can before you migrate to Photos. It is easier in iPhoto than in Photos.
Your iPhoto events will appear as albums like markwmsn explained.
