Q: Way to Make Camera Roll Behave as Inbox in Mails Does

Hello everyone,

I want to submit a feedback rather than a question, not sure if this is the right place, there wasnt a clear indication or link to where to go in order to do so. Strange. I believe companies value clients feedback more than ever these days.

Anyways, my camera roll is full of photos of countless types, self taken, internet, screenshots, things to remember, qoutes, art, food.  Its a mess.

Whats worst is that I often use this pictures, sent them to people, mail, whatsapp, apple messages, upload to sites... So I need to find them fast, keep them organized.

Lucky for me albums can be created with a selection of pictures. Yet, pictures are not moved to these albums, instead a "shortcut" is created. So my camera roll is still a mess. Imagine if mail inboxes would behave this way! It would be pointless, your inbox would never be clean, not sure of what has been sorted out or not. No space to keep those messages that have no specific folder, the most recent ones maybe, the ones more relevant to the present.

It strikes me that something so obvious in my eyes cannont be seen by the kings of design, the best of the best, the pinnacles of simplicity.

Its not something hard to do, I see no logical reason, not a single argument of why apple should not change this. In fact I cannot think of why they made it work this way in the first place.

Thanks, A worried user who does not want to jailbrake its iphone.

Alright, thank you for the feedback link.

Still I would like people to discuss their points of view on the matter, maybe someone can explain why apple made camera roll work like this....

Sorry again, this is a user to user technical forum, not Apple employees, we have no privy to what Apple does or not do.

If you've read the Terms of Use, it clearly states that speculations are not allowed. Feedback is the only channel that they sure will read.

    Apple do not participate here.

You can probably achieve what you want in this manner ...

    1. Create a Shared Photo Stream for each category of photos that you desire.  Note that you don't have to share it with anyone, just set up the stream with you being the only member.  Shared Photo Streams are separate copies of your photos from the versions in your Camera Roll, and note that Shared Photo Streams do not count against your iCloud storage limit.  Shared Photo Streams are permanent, unlike "My Photo Stream" which purges photos after 1,000 photos or the last 30 days, whichever occurs first.
    2. Send photos to their respective Shared Photo Stream according to how you've organized things.  Note that you can send multiple photos to the same stream at once, you don't have to do them one by one.
    3. Once you've confirmed the photos have been sent to the Shared Photo Stream, you can delete them from your Camera Roll and they'll remain in the Shared Photo Streams.  Be sure to transfer them to your computer first for safekeeping, if desired ... Shared Photo Streams are not quite full resolution copies as the originals.

There are some limitations on Shared Photo Streams, e.g. you can only have 100 streams total, and there are daily limits on how many photos you can add per day, but these limitations may not be an issue for you.  You can read more here:

Thank you for taking the time to give me a procedure with a possible solution. Im afraid though, that I dont use icloud, I prefer to keep everything on my phone/pc and away from the net. Its a nice workaround I would say, again thanks, but I feel this kind of things make a simple task rather tedious and complicated. I should be able to sort my photos in a matter of seconds, with a single tap, thats what design is about, thats what apple is about in my opinion.
