Q: Does not synchronize contacts with iOs9

I installed iOs9 in 3 devices and no longer synchronizes contacts with iCloud as before, through Outlook 2013 ...

I think it must be iOs9 update since the iPhone 4, are still synchronizing contacts without problems.

If iCloud entered through the web, saying that all contacts created in Outlook if they appear.

The momentary solution I've found to update the contacts, is creating one in the device, and then if they are updated.

Thank you.

Restarting did not work for me. Contact entered and saved in Contacts on Macbook Pro do not show up on iPhone 6 after upgrading to iOS 9.

With IOS 9 in order to get contacts put to your phone you have to go to settings, iCloud and then the spinner spins and they synchronise!

What I don't understand is why Apple do not tell us all this. Even Apple support said you have to be 80% or more charged (not true) of plugged into power (also not true). I think iOS 9.0 Is one of their flakier updates!

    Eventually I called technical support.

I have explained reasonably well, because in 3 (with iOs9) of the 4 devices that I have of Apple, I do not work synchronization with contacts, I've done all the tests that have advised me and I'm still the same.

I have said that working PC with Outllook 2013 if I change or modify contacts as I have always done, if I go to internet then appear automatically sync contacts, the iPhone 4 with iOs7 succeeds.

I think they had no knowledge of this incident and undertake to work at it.

    I hope.

As I said before with IOS 9 in order to get contacts updated to your phone you have to go to settings, iCloud and then the spinner spins and they synchronise!  You may have to be on wifi for this to work.  Make sure the spinner is spinning.

You are correct, Tcake, but when you go to Settings/ iCloud, you have to pull down until you see the little update wheel spinning at the top.  Then if you go to Contacts, any updates on your iCloud contacts will be synced on to your iPhone.  This is obviously NOT the way it's supposed to work, regardless of what account's contacts (iCloud, GMail, AOL, Outlook.com, etc.) you have activated in your settings.   As in earlier versions of iOS, if you pulled the screen down while in Contacts they would sync, and that was not typically even necessary.

I've been working with a senior advisor at Apple and they have been looking at my Contacts to see if they can find a corrupted file; this has been going on for two weeks.  This is obviously an iOS 9 issue and I'm fairly certain Apple is aware of it, but as we know, they never admit to any bugs until they issue an update.  Guess we have to be patient....

Thanks all for sharing your feedback on this issue.

Thanks Afuturo (for confirming what I said) - I find the spinner always spins when I go to Settings/iCloud in the family box above storage and below my name.

It is obviously a bug (or a weird way of syncing) and not something peculiar to your contacts as I have the same issue and so do others.

My error- you're absolutely correct, TCake- didn't realize that as I never to go to iCloud settings to sync.  Also, just to add this- I find if I add a contact on my iPhone, it does sync to my other devices (including Outlook on a Dell PC I have), but not the other way.  This only happens on my iPhone and not the iPad, however.  I've made Apple aware of this since they have been working with me, but no answer yet.

The update today to iOS 9.1 did not help this at all.   Not a big deal, but we pay enough for these devices and they should work as designed!

    Afuturo,

To get it to sync the other way in iOS 9 you HAVE to go to Settings/iCloud when on wifi and as I said the spinner will spin and then the contacts added or amended in Outlook will magically appear back on your phone after a few seconds.   This works consistently.  Maybe you need to tell Apple this (and while you are at it ask them why)!

    Hi Tcake:

I actually got Apple to replace my iPhone 6 as they concluded this was a hardware issue (I was also having an issue with Touch ID not working anyway).  I set up the new iPhone 6 yesterday, and voila...same problem.  It does work when I do exactly as you recommended and it does sync from Contacts entered on my iMac or Outlook on a PC when I go into Settings/ iCloud first.  I've contacted the Sr support person  at Apple I've been working with, and told them her that I can only conclude that this is an iOS 9 issue.  I'll share anything I find out after they respond, but I'm not holding my breath since this looks like a major issue for them.

To me, not if I have already mentioned, I noted to pass the programming department of iOs9. Fear is a very common mistake. I still hope his response.

This may work for iCloud, but does not work for Outlook contacts. I can create a contact on the phone and it appears in Outlook, but if I create or change a contact in Outlook it does not appear on the phone/ipad. The only way I found to fix is turn off contact sync (delete all contacts) and turn back on. The fresh sync will have the updates.

No need to delete all contacts, if you keep updated again to re-activate the feature.

but as you say, this was not the case before.

I was having the same issue with contacts refresh on iOS 9.1 iPhone 6s but having tried what has been suggested: signing out of iCloud, hard reset iPhone, and then sign back in to iCloud has fixed the issue.
