Q: Help, from a first time Apple User. :)

Hi guys, so after being an Android-ian for 6 years I finally gave in and purchased a MacBook Air and Im loving it!

p.s I chose the Macbook Pro community because of the higher number of followers.....

My main concern is the battery life,

1- Can i leave it plugged in after being fully charged ? What are the effects ?

2- Should I let it drain to like 50-ish and then recharge it ? What are the effects ?

I went onto the apple page on battery life but their information doesn't reply to my concerns.....

Hopefully I get good information

Peace

MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Welcome to the forums Zaian !

Yes you can leave it plugged in, no harm

Use it as you wish in a normal way. Estimated Cycle count for your machine is 1000

    Hi leroydouglas,

As you mentioned there is no harm in using Macbook Air by plugging in even after the 100% charged. But what about the Cycle count ? Does it increases even if we use while plugging in continuously?

    No

If the battery is not being used, i.e. plugged into power— then there is no counting against the battery.

    Hi,

At what percentage of charge the Cycle count increase while my Macbook Air is on battery use? And recently I upgraded my macbook to EL Capitan and my battery performance is decreased after upgrading. How can I fix this?
