unlike your friends who questioned my academic credentials, my comment was not ad hominem, actually it's a professional opinion and advice. They all seem to suffer from a big dose of insecurity with a side of projection that leads them to insult people to fill their need to demonstrate their intelligence and superiority over we technical illiterates who shouldn't own a piece of computing equipment if we are incapable of understanding its internal workings. Glad none of you are my patients.

News Flash: regular people without a CS degree use cell phones, etc., especially Apple products which are sleek, simple and convenient for those of us who are too busy to troll discussion boards under the guise of helping. Never again! I'd rather pay for an actual genius at the bar who at least pretends to be patient with me.

That you base such broad sweeping diagnoses and character opinions of people you really know absolutely nothing about, based on a few lines in a public web forum makes me think most people will be very happy they are not your patient.

Despite his condescending manner, I marked Michael's response as helpful because it was. He could have left out the part questioning our education and knowledge of math and computer science concepts.

WE are just owners of Apple products looking for help and yes, opinions, from expert users. If you don't think they are impatient, condescending and unnecessarily critical of those with lesser knowledge you're really not reading their stuff. No one goes looking for help just to be insulted for needing it. Seems that everyone got angry with me when I posed a question that suggested that Apple shouldn't be selling a basic product (iPhone 6 16GB) that doesn't have the capacity for basic use of the device and room to install and update the iOS. But then again I'm just an idiot.

It is fairly simple to observe certain character traits among the experts posting here. Basically the answer is "See this post for the information you need, and if we computer and math simpletons don't understand it and ask more or even the same question we are lambasted for not having a high school education or a basic understanding of math. It's just wrong

Here I was using an accepted technique for groups in trying to get the experts to experience the same feeling they, maybe unintentionally but certainly with some malice, give to those of us lessers they take every opportunity to berate.

But thanks anyway Michael, you are the only person who provided truly useful information which is why I marked your post as helpful.

I feel bad that this degenerated into what it has become but I hope it causes at least one expert to think about how they treat people who are not as knowledgeable about CS and consumer products and come here seeking a little education and patience.

    Thanks again for the help.

    WE?

Who are "we", are you a spokesman for some group, or are you just speaking for yourself, and if a group spokesman, who appointed you?

Interesting that the OP marked the first response as "Solved" over a year ago. And there it sat for almost a year, until it was thread jacked a few days ago with a discussion only very vaguely related to the original question.

This is why no one has indicated that they have been helped by ANY of the answers.

The "Solved" status of the first reply was selected by the original poster, so he thought he was helped.

Again, WE AMATEUR CONSUMERS who are just looking for some help in understanding an issue WE are not fluent in. Sorry that WE have limited knowledge of the hardware, software, principles and now the rules of discussion threads.

How can you not all see my point about your attitudes toward those of us looking for help and understanding the answers? Are we all just too dumb to be allowed to have iPhones?

And this thread's issue has been answered repeatedly, in multiple different ways. And even marked answered.

It's been observed over and over that people post without bothering to read the previous posts. There was nothing that was posted in the past few days that wasn't said in this thread a year ago.

Yeah. I never understood why people go to all the trouble to dredge up a dead thread then don't bother to actually read it.

I have also observed that those with the poorest positions always claim to be speaking for others, I assume that they lack the confidence to speak for themselves.

Sell your iPhone and buy something else, something that does not offend you.

    What is a Niff?
