Q: Flasing envelope on my screen at start-up. Can't get into disc utility
I thought I would reformat my MacBook Pro for the first time. After restarting it, then holding down the command and R
I went into disc utililities . I selected the second HD icon down (and slightly to the right), I think when I chose the first
it didn't give me the option to "erase". So I chose the 2nd HD icon and selected erase.
After it was erased I know I should have gone back to the main OSX UTILITIES screen to "reinstall OSX",
but for some reason I erased the top HD icon in the disk utility window.
Now, when I start the computer a flashing folder appears with a question mark inside.
If I start the computer and hold down command and R (as I read I should), I get the spinning globe with the message
"starting internet recovery, this may take awhile" ... which I know is supposed to appear, but the spinning
globe stops after a about 7 seconds replaced by a globe with a triangle inside it. Inside the triangle is an exclamation
mark, and under the image it says apple.com/support
-3001
The only reason I can think of for not connecting to the internet is that I'm on wifi at the library and need to accept their
terms and agreements?? Maybe I need to be hardwired.
Please help
