Nov 3, 2015 6:34 AM in response to dig.manby raromr,Very true - a $5 third party app seems to be the only solution - I refuse to pay to fix an ios issue - Apple has been of no help.

Nov 4, 2015 5:00 AM in response to norm123by TruffleKing,I have been having the same issue on both my iPods ( my iPad 2 and my iPad Air 2 ) since the iOS 9 update, it fixed itselfe on tthe last update but since he problem has come crack since the 9.1 update and gotten worse it not has deleted all my emails with the same message. I have forced closed the app no luck I have powered off the device and turned it back on no luck, I have force rebooted the device and still the same thing my emails over a day old pop up with the same message "This message has not been downloaded from the server."

Nov 11, 2015 2:19 AM in response to Terri Adcockby jer16,Apparently this is because the mail app has limited space to store messages (ie not infinite, fortunately).
Try deleting the oldest and biggest messages from your Sent folder and emptying the Trash folder. Does that help?

Nov 11, 2015 5:16 AM in response to jer16by stpage,This problem has nothing to do with space. It only occured after the last update. The Alta mail app is working ( I have the free version). Apple is certainly not what it used to be.

Nov 11, 2015 2:58 PM in response to jer16by TruffleKing,The problem has nothing to do with a space issue. I had 15 emails total with no attachments and a fully cleaned out trash and sent folder before the update after the update it started deleting the content of my emails and just leaving the message "This message has not been downloaded from the server." I still have no content in my trash or sent folder and after a day any emails I try and save delete the content and give the message "This message has not been downloaded from the server." again...
This same issued happed on the original 9.0 update but was some how fixed with the 9.01 update but popped up again on 9.1

Nov 23, 2015 4:08 AM in response to Terri Adcockby tasbobo,HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THE SOLUTION CAME FROM A STORE REPAIRING IPHONES HERE IN GREECE. ALL I HAD TO DO WAS TO GO TO OUTLOOK EXPRESS ( OR WHATEVER YOU USE FOR YOUR EMAIL ) , GO TO TOOLS--> ACCOUNTS--> PROPERTIES--> ADVANCED AND AT DELIVERY CHECK THE BOX "KEEP A COPY OF MESSAGE AT SERVER" , SO WHENEVER YOUR IPHONE RECALLS YOUR ACCOUNT , FINDS A COPY TO DOWNLOAD.

Nov 23, 2015 5:59 PM in response to tasboboby TruffleKing,If that is an actual fix that is even worse, that means that with iOS 9.1 the Mail client on the mobile devices no longer stores a local copy of the message witch completely ***** and negates the whole reason I have my ipads.... I have my mail download onto my mobile devices and then nightly download from my desktop for permanent storage and to reduce the amount of server space used for my mail.... I will test it out over the next week and see what I find.

Nov 27, 2015 3:16 AM in response to TruffleKingby jer16,I check my aettings and I'm asking to keep messages for a month.
I checked the server and the messages I can't down load atr still there ... up to three months.
Any other ideas?
I didn't have the problem before, not until I went to iOS 9 (or it may have been 8). So it looks like a bug to me, that was introduced recently by Apple.
Ps don't forget to go to the original message and tick "I have this problem too" , this may raise its priority with Apple.

Nov 30, 2015 12:05 AM in response to jer16by TruffleKing,Well I have been testing it for the last few days by not checking my mail on my system or deleting it from the server and just checking my accounts from my iPads and iPhones. All my accounts are POP accounts except my gmail account and the same problem is happening messages just decided they want to disappear but some of the test is still in the message preview under the subject and its even worse after they are deleted from the server. But what I have noticed as well that just proves its not an issue of deleting them from the server is that the messages under the sent folder that were created on the iDevices that are stored locally are giving the same message as well. I was asked to forward a sent message I sent a week ago and said ok went to retrieve it and get that freaking stupid message "This message has not been downloaded from the server." This would not happen on a POP account maybe an IMAP account but if it was a server issue it would not affect a pop account not to mention I could still see the first line of the message in the preview of the message under the subject just as I can on the incoming mail.

Nov 30, 2015 5:21 AM in response to stpageby sparksd,I'm trying Altamail right now with my Comcast POP email. I want to download all of my email for reading offline when I don't have an Internet connection and I thought Altamail did this. But if I turn off WiFi and open Altamail and try to read a message, I get a popup telling me there is no connection and I can't read it - it apparently does not download the message when updating, only when you read it. I do have preload turned on, too.
