So current update, issue still persists, i cant find anything on google about it. I have now upgraded my system to 10.11.1 and server app 5.0.15 every few hours all the updates just disable themselves. if anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

I am also seeing this issue both on 10.10.5 and 10.11.1 with Server 5.0.4.

Something interesting that I found in the swupdate settings (by running /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/sbin/serveradmin fullstatus swupdate):

    swupdate:state = "RUNNING"

    swupdate:lastChecktime = 2015-11-02 21:30:05 +0000

    swupdate:autoMirrorOnlyNew = no

    swupdate:syncServiceState = "RUNNING"

    swupdate:startTime = 2015-11-03 15:38:26 +0000

    swupdate:lastProductsUpdate = 2015-11-03 15:37:56 +0000

    swupdate:logPaths:swupdateServiceLog = "/Library/Server/Software Update/Log/swupd_syncd.log"

    swupdate:logPaths:swupdateErrorLog = "/Library/Server/Software Update/Log/swupd_error.log"

    swupdate:logPaths:swupdateAccessLog = "/Library/Server/Software Update/Log/swupd_access.log"

    swupdate:pluginVers = "10.11.111 (111)"

    swupdate:checkError = no

    swupdate:autoEnable = no

    swupdate:updatesDocRoot = "/Library/Server/Software Update/Data/"

    swupdate:hostServiceState = "RUNNING"

    swupdate:autoMirror = yes

    swupdate:numOfEnabledPkg = 1011

    swupdate:servicePortsAreRestricted = "NO"

    swupdate:numOfMirroredPkg = 1207

    swupdate:setStateVersion = 1

    swupdate:syncStatus = "DONE"

    swupdate:readWriteSettingsVersion = 1

I have enabled all but two updates in the GUI, so the enabled count should be 1205, not 1011. That is very strange! Bug report submitted!

It appears to be a know issue that apple is aware of there suggestion to me since my system isn't in production is a full wipe and to get a proper A record / PTR record setup for dns.

Interesting. My SUS servers ARE in production, so a wipe is not possible. All of my servers resolve both forward and reverse as expected. We put in a case with Apple...

I am seeing this same issue on three different production servers at this time. All are 10.10.5 and the latest server version. Very upsetting.

I am getting calls from clients about the problem. Updates are showing up on client machines but they will not download.

If I enable the update again the client can do the upgrade.

Just wanted to add a me too. I will keep an eye on this thread.

Ok so my issue is resolved. not sure why this worked but so far for 24 hours my updates have not been disabled

Keep in mind this was a test machine but here are the steps i took:

    1. Setup a fully static ip and A/ PTR record
    2. Fully reformatted and install / updated 10.11.1
    3. Downloaded Server app and setup DNS (all i did was turn it on) and software update service
    4. downloaded and enabled all updates from 2015 minus the voice packs.

And 24 hours later i still have enabled updates!

We are having the same issue, fully updates Server on 10.10.5. I opened a Ticket with Apple Enterprise support but no resolution yet.

Is there any solution for this? I have the same issue after I had to perform a complete new setup of OS X Server.

    OS X 10.11.3 (Build 15D21)

    Server 5.0.15 (Build 15S4033)

All services work fine, but all enabled updates in Software Update service are automatically disabled after a short time (typically after a few hours, less than a day). While enabled, the updates are available to clients. I can't figure out what process or program or event is actually disabling all the enabled updates. The Software Update logs don't show any disabling (Service log, Error log, Access log).

Interestingly, while updates are shown as enabled in the GUI they are indeed available to clients, although in /Library/Server/Software Update/Status/com.apple.server.swupdate.plist the enabled updates still have the string value "enable: NO" (or in XML notation: <key>enable</key><false/>).

It seems that enabling updates through the GUI doesn't effect com.apple.server.swupdate.plist, but the status is somewhere cached (maybe in the cache files under Data/html/content/catalogs/others), because even after a reboot of the entire system the GUI still shows the expected status for enabled updates and these updates are still available to clients. At least until a short time later when all updates are disabled again.

10.11.4 and OS X Server 5.1 have resolved this issue for me.
