Q: My iphone 6 is stuck on headphones mode.

I hadn't used the headphones before this happened. I've tried cleaning out the jack with a match (it looks very clean) and plugging the headphones in and out several times whilst watching a video. Neither worked.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I had the same Problem. Here is a simple solution. Take an earbud, remove the cotton swabs from either side. Insert the same in the headphone jack and suck hard from the other side. The problem would be resolved immediately. If there is any debris or water you will have this problem.

This is the only solution that worked for me when my iphone 6 was stuck in headphone mode!! I tried all the other suggestions and nothing worked, even an apple tech on the phone could not solve it.  Thank you so much!

I tried a bunch of solutions and the only one that worked for me was the "physical" one.

In my case I used a BIC pen – taking the ink tube and sliding it into the headphone jack. Doing a bit of pressure and pulling it out a couple of times seemed to fix the issue.

I think I'm not going to plug in any headphones back again...

This also worked for me after my coffee spilled onto my phone. After cleaning it, drying it, using q-tips, paperclips, a hairdryer, tissues, etc. for an hour, the way I got it to work was make a call with the headphones in, then pull them out during the call and turning on the speakerphone. That's what did the trick! What a relief.

I tried everything in this blog, the q-tip trick, putting a tissue over the headphone hole and inserting the headphone as far as it would go, cleaned the headphone jack with alcohol, used a paper clip and moved it around.... Nothing worked, I tried putting in on airplane mode for 1 hr, then turned it off and nothing would happen, but that was because I was missing something; so here is what I did and worked

Turn on airplane mode → do a full shut down of the phone, not only turn in off, you need to so a restart of the phone by pressing both the home and upper right hand buttons until the apple logo comes out (for about 10 seconds) wait until your phone turns back on and it will be on airplane mode → turn off airplane mode

    This should do the trick

I Found a solution guys!!! you just have to go settings > sound > ringtone then try changing/play the ringtones while changing volume up and down then press home.

i tried everything but the SILVER PAPER CLIP WITHOUT COATING did the trick. Patience is a virtue. Thank you Danny6052. Just put the paper clip inside the headphone port, move it in circular motion touching the sides while playing a music. You know it worked if you already hear the music.

Honestly the only thing that worked for me because I was doing dishes at work and my phone was in my apron pocket so water was my first thought so as soon as I got home I put it in rice and a hour later the stupid headphone setting came off which was a relief.

Thank you so much man. THIS WORKS. Everything else in this thread failed me except your comment and your post at the end of this thread was what did it for me.

Wow that actually worked, using the original Apple headphone to change to volume.  Thanks!

My iPhone 6s is less than a week old. I hadn't even used the headphones and this happened to me (got stuck on headphone mode). Tried everything to no avail, but this worked just as he said: have someone call you, go on speaker, plug in headphones, unplug headphones, talk on handset. Voila!

Thanks r850723, this is the only thing that worked.

Instantly changed the phone from "headphones" to "ringer" when I made a call with headphones in.

I then switched from speaker to handset with headphones out.
