Q: IOS 9 FaceTime Bug

Hi everyone!

I've been running IOS 9 since it came out today, as well as all the Public Betas.

When i was beta testing it, there was a very annoying FaceTime bug on my iPad 4. Whenever I made a FaceTime Call, I was told that the quality was very choppy, i constantly showed 'poor connection', and my face was covered in pixelated lines.

I was very happy when i installed the final version of IOS 9. I thought that the bug would go away, but it didnt. I FaceTime called by boyfriend, and he says that its very choppy, and the pixelated lines are still present all over the camera. I had to go back to IOS 8.4.1 on my iPad, because that is the main feature i use on my device. I also have an iPhone, and there's no such problem with facetime. I think it's a 4th gen iPad related issue.

Anything i could do? Thanks!

iPad (4th gen) Wi-Fi, iOS 9

WWhen your msg came through I was online with apple support. He told me nobody else had this problem!!!!!! I was in process of rebuilding from iTunes. I asked if anybody read the apple support pages and he said they didn't have time to read them all.

i Have rebuilt mine twice no with no effect, I think everyone needs to get on to Apple direct and tell them about this problem with 4th Generation.......

my grandchildren will forget what I look like!

iOS 9 broke FaceTime for me as well. I had to switch to Microsoft's Skype. Ironic.

I have the same problem using an iPad 4. iPad Mini 2 works fine. Probably because iPad 4 has a 32 bit processor???

Does the problem persists on IOS 9.1?

9.1 didn't improve anything for me either. I've also had to switch to Skype.

Did anyone in this thread managed to get a response from Apple on the issue ?

I had logged a bug (id 23063601) on Apple's bug reporting tool and checking the status almost daily. But have not seen any progress on the same

I Spent 90 mins on chat support with an Apple lady in USA, trying different things but she was getting same msg about poor connection. She suggested I reset the iPad which I did all to no avail.

i Then got onto my ISP and they changed my settings for router, no change. I got back on to an Apple guy in Ireland and I did a whole iPad reset through iTunes, losing everything as he said to reset as a new iPad! No change.he even said no one Else had this problem, I told him to read the support queries and he had the cheek to say they got so many emails they didn't have time to read them.

so nothing has worked at all as far as FaceTime and I'm now using Facebook/messenger video link without problem.

I tried to report this to Apple Support, but as it affects my older iPad4 I couldn't get it logged.  My iPad Air is fine.  I can't believe how arrogant Apple seems to be on this, saying no-one else has a problem.  There must be literally millions of iPad4s out there that are affected.  I also have a problem with Mail on IOS9, so will likely switch to a third party app.  Shame on you Apple for releasing poorly tested software, and then denying there is a problem and treating your customers as idiots!

i went to the apple store to report the problem. they said they had never heard of this problem and advised me to just wait to see if a future update will fix it. In the mean time enjoy your ongoing suffering. What a joke of a customer support is this. These support forums are not read by Apple obviously since no one at the store even knew that they existed. These are like the AAA support groups for disgruntled and unhappy apple product owner to vent their frustration use each others shoulders to cry on while the company rakes in billions

    It just solved my problem:

    - turn off facetime

    - logout apple id

    - change apple id password

    - restart iPhone

    - login apple id again

    - turn on facetime

On General > Date & Time > Set Automatically: (must be on!)

Hope these steps help to solve your problem too!
