Q: Siri Remote does not wake TV

I have my Apple TV 4th gen hooked up to an Insignia NS-L26Q-10A TV. The Apple TV automatically configured the Siri Remote to control volume (via IR) and the TV correctly shuts off when I put the Apple TV to sleep. Based on the information in HT205225, this implies that the TV supports at least some part of HDML-CEC. However, the TV does not wake when Apple TV awakes.

Has anyone else encountered this behavior on Insignia TVs? If so, any tips on resolving it? I would really like to get to a single remote.

I have the same problem with a relatively new Sansung TV.  Apple TV will power off the Samsung upon sleeping, but will not power it on upon waking.

There's a setting on the AppleTV that turns the feature on and off - obviously you want to make sure that's turned on. And there's also a setting on your TV that changes your TV's ability to respond to other devices - you want to make sure it's enabled on both  the Apple TV and the TV set.

If everything is enabled, try a different HDMI cable.

But it could just be an incompatibility between different manufacturers. It works perfectly with my Sony TV, but the manual implies that it's only guaranteed to work with other Sony products (maybe that's just marketing, trying to scare me into buying only Sony products).

I do have the feature turned on.  That's why it IS able to turn my TV off, but it just won't turn it on.  And I have no such setting on my TV.  Is it my TV's fault?  Is it bottom of the line, but it's a modern Samsung!

Plus, I thought the remote would be able to fire the power signal to the TV directly.  Is the IR transmitter really ONLY for volume???

here's some Samsung information (they call it "Anynet+") - but it depends on your specific model. You should search for your specific instructions:

And reading around on some other forums, it seems it's almost impossible to get HDMI control to work consistently across different brands. It's not specifically an Apple problem. People on AVSForums suggest turning off HDMI control, forgetting that it exists, and buying a Harmony remote.
