Oct 30, 2015 1:24 PM in response to vladjimanby justin9438,No such luck, going to try one more thing but I really think there is just something in my backup that is corrupt that even Apple can't see. Bummer.

Nov 6, 2015 7:23 AM in response to kimiceman1013by DC_Dave,Hi, I have an iPhone 4S with the same "stuck at the apple logo after restoring from an iOS7.1.2 backup" problem. I have now managed to restore my iOS7 iTunes backup to my iPhone 4S with the aid of some software called iMazing and their emailed technical support Instructions.
If your backup is in iCloud, then maybe you could restore it to an old iPhone 4 on iOS7.1.2, then do an iTunes backup from that.
First restore to iOS9.1 and before restoring from your iTunes backup, open iMazing and follow
1) In iMazing, select Backups in the left sidebar
2) Select your source backup, then 'Export to iMazing File': better safe than sorry! You'll have a backup of your backup so that if editing it goes awry, you can revert to the original.
3) Double click the backup to mount it, then select File System
4) Navigate to SystemPreferences/SystemCongifuration, and delete all files
5) Navigate to Root/Library/Preferences, and delete all files
6) Navigate to Home/Library/Preferences and delete all com.apple. files
7) Close the backup, close iMazing, then restore this backup it to your iOS 9 device.
I found that after the restore, the iPhone rebooted and you had to go through some setup details.
Then once you selected "setup as new" from the iPhone, the home page came up and I could then press sync in iTunes to start app downloads.
Once done, all I had to do was to enter my mail passwords and rearranged some of the screen icons.

Nov 6, 2015 1:13 PM in response to vladjimanby justin9438,I can also confirm that the above worked. Thank you iMazing and DC_Dave!
Side note, I did notice some of the com.apple files were named "Cydia". I jailbroke my iPhone 5 about 2 years ago and I guess it was on the same backup. Had any of you other people jailbroken your phones in the past? I wonder if Apple put something in iOS 9 to prevent jailbreaking that caused this issue.
So beyond happy this worked.

Nov 8, 2015 11:54 PM in response to justin9438by dovfromil,I had this theory a while back.
See here: Re: Ios 9 stuck on apple logo
I actually believe its directly related - and apple are aware of the reason, hence they arent helping us.
Either way, I'm going to attempt the solution tonight and will update.

Bug still appeared.
So no, this is not jailbrake related.
