Q: Apple TV 4 boots to and stuck on "Select Your Country or Region"

JJust like the title say. ATV4 boots right to the Select Your country or Region screen. Remote is unresponsive, i.e. I can't scroll around and choose anything or click. If ATV goes on standby, however, the remote will wake it up by clicking Home button. Anyone get passed this?

Charged it overnight, after my post. Still no-go. I was able to turn it on via remote by holding the Menu and Volume Up, but still not recognizing touch. I have Apple Support calling in an hour and I'll post results.

Charging the remote doesn't work. Apple Support can't help unless you have an older Apple TV system and the remote from it. You will have to go to an Apple Store to have them pair the remote. I have experienced the exact same issues over the last few days and mine is corrected now. Good luck!

Recently got off the call with Apple Support. Short of it is you can use an older Apple TV remote to get passed the setup/configuration screens.

    Longer story:

    • Use older Apple TV remote (not iOS Remote app) to navigate through initial configuration screen
    • Once on the tvOS main console, hold down Home and Volume Up buttons simultaneously on the Siri Remote for a few seconds
    • The "pairing remote" notification will appear in the top-right, asking to put the remote near the ATV
    • Worked from here on out and didn't need to go to the Apple Store

    Hi,

I am experiencing the same issue with my new Apple TV 4thG (just bought 8 days ago)

However, I don't have neither an older Apple TV remote nor a USB-C cable to reset the Apple TV.

    What can I do ?

    Thanks

Borrow an aluminum Apple TV 2/3 Gen. remote from friend, family or neighbour? If that doesn't work take it into the store, Explain the issue and see if they'll connect it to their network to perform the initial setup steps until your remote can be paired. Show them this discussion thread if need be.

Confirmed using the older silver remote to get through the initial setup worked fine. I've setup 1x 64GB that didn't have this issue and another 32GB that also was fine. This was the first time I experienced this issue with a new Apple TV. Obviously some kind of strange bug. Rebooted the unit - it booted up to the select country screen every time - skipping the pair remote step every time. Hope they fix this issue on newer units. I would imagine they are getting many calls about this!
