Jun 15, 2015 6:22 AM in response to akfromnycby Glenn Leblanc,Smart albums & PhotoStream are not included in criteria of creating a smart album. What your image shows is you have 9 items that are not included in at least 1 user created ablum.

Nov 7, 2015 1:30 PM in response to Glenn Leblancby akfromnyc,Thanks Glenn. The Smart Album as i have set it up here does indeed show Photostream photos. In fact All Photos in Photos includes photostream photos, which is where I'm sure the smart album is picking up the photostream photos.
Is there any way to make All Photos exclude photostream? Ideally i'd like photostream to be a 1000 photo history of photos taken from my ios camera and not interfere with my collection of photos in Photos.
Thanks.

Nov 7, 2015 1:34 PM in response to LarryHNby akfromnyc,Thanks Larry. What will this do? exclude photostream-only photos, or all photos taken by an ios-device, including those that have been explicitly imported into Photos by me?

Nov 7, 2015 3:14 PM in response to Old Toadby akfromnyc,That makes logical sense but oh so frustrates what i'm trying to accomplish.
I guess I have no choice but to disable My Photostream on my iMac.
I wish there was a way to view My Photostream on my Mac without the import.

Use a Shared Photo Album instead. You can create a shared photo album and published it publicly or privately.
The limit for a shared Photo Album is 5000. If you only want 1000 then when you reach that limit delete some when you add the new ones. You can still keep your My Photo Stream active as a way to easily import the photos from your mobile devices into your library.
