Q: Is anyone else having issues with Apple Mail and GoDaddy mail accounts?

I keep getting the connection message failed and to check username and password. All the setting are correct. The rep at GoDaddy is pointing the finger at Apple and said it is a problem with the El Capitan operating system version 10.11.1. Does anyone have a workaround yet?

I am getting the same problems, and the GoDaddy rep just pointed the finger at Apple, and directed me here:  http://osxdaily.com/2015/07/05/resolving-mail-problems-os-x-update/

It appeared to work, as my uncollected mail streamed in.  But then I got the same error again.  Mail is arriving OK on my iPhone, just not on the Mac, using Mail Version 9.1 (3096.5).  I'm running 10.11.1 as well.

Ok, so I went through all the suggestions. One of the accounts loaded and within 2 minutes the same connection issues occurred again. So I'm back to square one with no resolution. Sounds like the backup plan is to use my iPhone or iPad until Apple IT folks decide to confront this obvious glitch in the OS. Thank you for trying anyway. Wish this didn't affect my business in such a way.

Yes I am getting the same problems and the same answer from go daddy.

I cannot receive email - incoming mail server problems - I took off the check for Use SSL and that changed the port to 110 that worked once and a bunch of email came in. Then it stopped working.

I can send, so the outgoing is working.

    From this link.

    I followed the step - partially -

Look for the box titled “Automatically detect and maintain account settings”, and unchecked.

    I can now receive.

I dont know overall implications of leaving this unchecked.

Nancy, this may have solved it. I want to wait a few days to see if it has solved it. But thank you for the advice.

Now to let the techs at Godaddy know about this.

Is this an Apple issue or a Godaddy issue?

I followed that link, unchecked "check for whatsis automatically" and I got a flood of emails going back over 48 hours.

Sent a test email (the page with the instructions on it in case this should - it probably will - happen again) and that went right through.

Now to go fix my desktop email.

    Thanks.

I think that the techs at GoDaddy need to know so that when other callers request help they can tell them what to do. The instructions given on the accounts site is not very helpful and does not give good instructions on proper Apple Mail configuration. Bottom line: just thrilled you discovered the solution. Thank you once again!

I can only get my email to keep working if I leave the “Automatically detect and maintain account settings” setting unchecked to.  If I check that box again it stops working again.  Does anyone know what effect this will have by leaving it unchecked?
