Q: When I run iPhotos it says I need the Library Updater but when I run that it says the library is ok but iPhotos still does not work...

I have a 13-inch MacbookPro early 2011 with El Capitan 10.11.1, 4GB memory 2.3GHz intel Core i5. I have not been able to use iPhotos since Yosemite and the problem is that when I run iPhotos it tells me the Library is too old and links in to the iPhoto Library Upgrader. When I download this and start it from the Utilities Go menu it says that the library can open the current version of iPhoto. I can't get iPhoto to work on the Macbook but on my iPhone 6 and iPad the photos are ok.

What version of iPhoto do you have? What is the exact error message?

And you posted in the Photos for Mac forum - I will request your post be moved to the iPhtoo for Mac forum for better answers

    Hi LN,

    The iPhoto version is;-

    Version 1.2 (340.4.0)

    Digital Camera RAW 6.17 (825)

I explained it is not an error it just prompts me to update the Library.

There is a button that brings up Safari then I download the library updater and run it.

When I have rub the updater it says the library is ok...

But when iPhoto is run it is no different and it goes to the dialogue with the link button again.

I don't understand when you said about;-

That's not iPhoto, that's the new Photos.app, new icon and different application.

Can you open the Library with iPhoto?

I do not have iPhoto because it is obsolete... I have the Photo app and it is not working; it asks for me to upgrade the iPhoto library as specified above. This may be irrational etc. but that is Apple not me! When i follow all the links and instal instructions provided there is no difference and it still prompts me to upgrade the iPhoto library.
