Q: Which dovecot version is in current OS X Server?

Which version of dovecot comes with current OS X Server?

What is the process for upgrading dovecot versions?  Is there a package manager for OS X Server, or does one download and compile sources?

Is there a page listing what comes with OS X Server?  (I've been searching for hours and can't find anything past 10.6).

Mac mini, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

    Here is a list of the open source software used in OS X: http://www.apple.com/opensource/

    Looks like Dovecot is v2.0.13 but it doesn't specify what server version or when the page was last updated.

    No package manager in OS X unless you install Homebrew. Updating Dovecot manually is likely going to break stuff. If you update server versions the settings and data are migrated for you by the server installer.

    That page on Apple Opensource is out of date. As of Today dovecot is Version 2.2.5

    On my MacBook Test Server with OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 with OS X Server 5.15 I needed to know the same thing and found that you can find (very dangerous) commands inside the server app which can help diagnose and provide information.

    $ /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/sbin/dovecotd --version
    2.2.5

    Use with caution. Experiment on a test system!

    The only supported update is via the App Store on Apples timetable and choice of version of bundled software.
