wrong info, Joe:
Panasonics, as any other consumer camera, does not NOT store 4k insinde AVCHD; which is, for years, the 'standard' for fullHD, with a max bitrate of 28mbps (4k usually comes in 100mbps) .... therefor: mp4. And far from 'raw'
In short, using here a Pana FZ1000 with same rec options:
fully supported in FCPX.
only difference:
in AVCHD files, you can select parts on import; mp4/mov files are imported 'as is' only. Hint: hit pause every here&then when recording onger pieces.
btw: superb quality, what the Panas deliver ... both 4k and fullHD
