Q: Safari 9.0.1 not displaying some images from some websites

Hi, I am running Safari 9.0.1. on a Macbook Air 13, OS X Yosemite. Since my update a couple of days ago, I cannot display image - links from some websites.

Roll-over effects display correctly, but when left alone the images just won't display.

I can see the same images properly with Chrome and Firefox, and I see them correctly if I change the user agent from the developer menu. Images just won't display when user agent is the latest version of Safari. A friend of mine that did not update Safari yet, can see all images properly.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Have you contacted the WordPress people to see if they're planning up update?

Followed all the steps - still doesn't work.  Chrome works perfectly.  Anyone know how to fix this?

Foxnews.com  is another site that will not load properly with Safari 9.0.1.  Works fine with Chrome.

There is a setting under the "Develop" menu in Safari called "Disable Images." You may have accidentally turned that on at some point.

Checked - not the issue.  Safari on iOS is fine, but not on Yosemite.  A fairly recent problem - last 2 or 3 months.

Did you ever find a solution for this?  It's definitely a Safari bug that showed up in 9.0.1 (9.0.3 also has the bug) as 9.0 did not have the problem.  It's randomly on some images.  If you inspect the element, the image then shows up.

I ended up finding a (hacky) fix for this Safari (9.0.1+) bug.  The issue was with the container element around the image and not the image iteself.  I had an anchor tag around the image so I ended up displaying the anchor as a block and it is no longer disappearing.  This is probably not going to work for everyone but hopefully it will steer someone in the right direction.

Hi, it might be a bit late now but I had this problem too and I found a solution so this might help other people trying to find a fix.

My images that weren't displaying had the foreign letter ö in their file name. Once I removed the letter from the file name the images were showing up.

I think this problem might be related to having symbols or foreign letters in the filename and Safari is not able to read it.

    Hope this helps.

It seems to me that there are newer, and more secure Safari updates available than 9.0.1 — when all updates have been applied to OS X 10.10.5. Check your Updates in the OS X App Store, and read the details for the Security updates.

The Security Update 2016-004 for Yosemite has Safari 9.1.3 in it.
