It sounds like you created a new iCloud email account after purchasing a new iOS device and previous to the purchase, you already had Apple ID for music, movies and app purchases. The best way to proceed, in your situation outlined in the following Knowledge Base Article:
Sign in with a different Apple ID on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Sign in with your iCloud account and select your desired options for that, and for your purchases sign into iTunes, iBooks and App Store with your original Apple ID:
Your Apple ID is the account you use for everything you do with Apple: shopping the iTunes Store, signing in to iCloud, buying an app, using iMessage, and more. We recommend that you use the same Apple ID for all Apple features and services. If you want to change the email address associated with your Apple ID, sign in to My Apple ID to change your email address, then use these steps to update it in the services on your device.
iCloud
- Tap Settings > iCloud on your iOS device. If you see the option to sign in, you can change your Apple ID now.
- Scroll down and tap Sign Out. In iOS 7 or earlier, tap Delete Account. After you sign out of iCloud, you might not be able to access some of your data that's stored in iCloud until you sign in again. If you're part of a family, you'll need to sign back in to use Family Sharing.

- Choose Keep on My iPhone or Delete from My iPhone.
- Enter your password.
- Go to Settings > iCloud and enter your Apple ID and password.
- Tap Sign In.
If you updated your Apple ID email address and your device repeatedly asks for the password to your previous Apple ID, you can temporarily change your Apple ID to resolve the issue.
