Nov 6, 2015 3:50 AM in response to Jlkochanby owlyn,My wife and I are having the same problem (haven't checked on the Send problem, as we don't usually send many emails from our iPhones. Most older downloaded messages are getting the "server" message.
As a workaround, I have created IMAP versions of our accounts, while leaving the POP versions on the phone. I just did this, so I hope it works. So far, we have each received the messages that are still on the server.
The big question is, once Apple fixes this. will the older messages return? I suspect not, but I hope I am wrong about that.

Nov 6, 2015 10:36 AM in response to owlynby FJosbacher,A meaningful clue is in the occurrence of the "error" message for SENT messages via SMTP: there should be no presumption that a message and its attachment(s) will be stored on the SMTP server, never mind be available for retrieval from the SMTP server.
The lack of memory allocated to the iPad's email app is a plausible case: the app checks to see if the attachments are available locally, and if not, it tries to "download" them from ... {somewhere}. Apple should at least get the error message right for messages SENT via SMTP: if the attachments can't be "found" on the iPad, then there is no point in looking elsewhere.
I'm concerned about whether the iPad's email app will ever be able to "find" the sent attachments: has it now lost the pointers to them?

Nov 9, 2015 8:47 AM in response to Jlkochanby jana-cetecea,I think it is ironic they are leaving them alone, when I just posted a simple note on another thread that stated "someone reported the Beta version is fixing the problem", and they removed the comment. I am glad they are leaving comments here. After all, it's not like they are revealing some new top secret function, just a possible fix to a nagging problem. Gives us hope! LOL

I believe someone said you need 150 points to become a beta tester, but I don't know how you acquire points. I note that you have 5 points. -

I don't know if 150 points is the level but I have been invited repeatedly. I won't do it because Beta software/firmware is, by definition, untested and therefore unreliable.

Hi ............. (gunsch66), Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities. We removed your post Re: After ios9 update my emails with attachments won't open and say "message not yet downloaded from server". They were there previously. How do I get them back? because it contained information about beta software available only to Registered Apple Developers. This unfortunately is not what we in Germany understand as "freedom of expression"!!!

I don't know how to break this to you but Apple is a private business and that private business owns this forum. I seriously doubt that private businesses in Germany are required to do things your way.

If you're not pleased you should deal with a different private business, one that meets with your requirements.
