Q: Can't access windwos 7 partition!

Hello;

Today I tried to extend the partition windows 7 in my mac-book air (El Capitan), so i opened disk utility, i reduced the Macintosh HD, and I thought this decrements will be added automatically to windows partition, unfortunately, it created a new partition! I tried to delete it, I couldn't.  I clicked this partition, then I erased it, but the partition tab is greyed! and can't access at all. Any way when I restart the mac, to access the windows, I found no windows drive in the list of choice, and only Macintosh HD and the recovery drive are in the list of choice!

It will be highly appreciated if you can help me to delete the extra partition I wrongly made, increase the windows size, and get my windows back

Sincerely Yours

MacBook Air (11-inch Mid 2011), OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

    If you do not rebuild the MBR using the steps I provided, your Windows will not work, even though you can see all your Windows files, because your MBR structure (the ones we are trying to fix with Gdisk) are currently invalid.

    When you choose the Startup disk to be Windows, the Mac wants to boot to Windows. Once you are in Mac (OS X), click on the lock and choose Macintosh HD and then lock the screen. It should reboot in OS X from this point forward, unless you change it.

    Dear Loner;

    Sorry for my late to reply, I was not in my office, anyway, I took the first step to change the csrutil status. In the figure below, system-integrity protection status: enable, but the configuration all are disable.

    So, do i need to repeat it again to make system-integrity protection status: disable.

    Or by disable you meant just the configuration.

    These steps need to be typed in OS X Terminal (Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal).

    Dear Loner;

    According to your reply, you said the steps you asked me to follow should be typed in Terminal, I just tried to type the first command, and it says command not found! check the figure below.

    Besides the upper part of the figure suppose to be the disable configuration you asked to me to do first. Is it correct or not.

    Thanks

    1. The upper part (csrutil) is correct.

    2. You need a space between "gdisk" and "/dev/rdisk0".

    You are not supposed to type anything within the parentheses. The text is an explanation of the commands.

    Dear Loner;

    Really I don't know how to thank you! You really helped me to get back my windows, although I made many mistakes, and yet you keep helping me, until I get back my windows.

    Thank you so much for all your help and effort.

    So, just two things left, first, the extra partition I mistakenly made last time, still exist, is there any way I can delete it.

    Secondly, how can I increase the windows partition size.

    Again thanks A lot.

    Sincerely yours.

    You no longer need to delete. Keep it. Be aware that we have worked around the extra partition issue. It is a fragile setup, so regular back ups are strongly recommended. Use separate external disks, if possible.

    To increase the size, you will need to erase/convert (not remove) Untitled to Free Space and use a tool like GParted to extend Bootcamp, and then rebuild the MBR again using Gdisk, but your partition sequence will become 2 3 4 instead of the 5 6 we used.

    Dear Loner;

    How if I delete this windows, and reinstall it again, will this allow me to choose the size I want? If so, how can I delete the windows?

    No it will not.

    If you want to change the size of Windows, backup OS X, boot into internet recovery, erase your internal disk, restore OS X and use BCA to start over again. Do not create extra partitions using any utility or resize Windows or OS X.

    OK, step by step;

    How to backup OS X?

    How to boot into internet recovery?

    once I boot, how to erase your internal disk?

    Then how to restore OS X and use BCA to start over again.

    Thanks in advance

    Dear Loner;

    Right now I can run the windows, and everything is working fine, but I just realized that, when I run the windows, I cannot find boot-mac partition, last time I have it, and I can access it and get any doc from it, but now, it doesn't appear at all.

    Is there any way I can do to show it up?!

    Thanks in advance
