Q: "iCloud... I'm Already Signed In!" Stop with the "This iMac can't connect to iCloud... Open iCloud preferences to fix this problem."

I don't know what the problem is but these windows keep popping up.... after login and while logged in. Clicking on "Later" or opening "iCloud Preferences..." makes no difference.

But I'm already signed in! Another Post-El Capitan upgrade glitch? They're minor annoyances but piling up to become a major aggravation.

Did you try typing in your password when you see the "Sign in to use your Apple ID" window?

Did you try signing out of iCloud and then signing back in? Do you use 2-Step Verification?

Yes... been through that multiple times. Not sure about 2-Step Verification. I think I have that, but it's never come up.

This began post-El Capitan, never happened in Yosemite.

If you have 2-step Verification, then you have to sign in Messages and FaceTime with the App-specific password, so that is probably what it is asking for:

I'm still unclear with this 2-Step Verification thing. Not sure I have/use it now. And I haven't used Messages or FaceTime on this new iMac. This was not an issue pre-migration from old iMac running El Capitan. Otherwise, the window hasn't popped up in a few days. Very sporadic. Can't pinpoint what causes it, typically after login I think.

It's back! Once again that problem with iCloud window popping up and asking me to sign in when I'm already singed in and everything is the same as it's been - no settings have been changed. Is it iCloud? Seems fine once I open Settings and cancel sign in window, since I'm, you know, already singed in. Is it the internet? That's working. No idea what is going on here, but it suddenly starts popping up last week after 2-3 months without incidence.

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Move the following to the Trash and restart.

Close all running apps. Put the following items in the trash:

    1) In the ~/Library/ folder, put the Caches folder in the trash.

    2) In the ~/Library/Application Support/ folder, put the folder iCloud in the trash.

    3) In the ~/Library/Preferences/ folder, put the file MobileMeAccounts.plist in the trash.
