Q: aperture updates

I used Aperture v 3.4.5 for years on 2010 iMac OS10.7.1. Recently moved to Retina iMac OS 10.11.1. I had not updated Aperture or old OS becasue it was working. Now that version does not work on new iMac and Apple does not have updates of Aperture available. My bad in that I acquired Aperture from B&H Photo years ago when I was making another order, so after 30 years with Apple, I have this one not bought from them. Any suggestions on how to acquire an update that will run with 10.11.1?

    Aperture 3.4.5 is the first version, that only is available from the App Store and not on Apple's downloads page. If you managed to update to this version, your AppleID should now be associated with Aperture at the App Store.

     

    Check at the App Store, if Aperture is showing on the Purchases tab of the App Store in your Purchase History. Even if you did not buy Aperture from the App Store, it should be showing in your purchases, the update to 3.4.5 changed the license.

    If you do not see Aperture, try to unhide it.See this link:    Hide and unhide purchases in the Mac App Store - Apple Support

     

    If Aperture is showing on the Purchases tab, delete your version 3.4.5 from the Applications folder, but don't empty the Trash. Then reload the Purchases tab, and if Aperture is showing with an "Install" button, install it.

    I go to the Store but do not see any link to "Hidden" purchases. I have a date for the upgrade to Aperture 3.4.5 but it does not show in  list and I do not see any "hidden" area in "In Cloud " or under it.

    If you have hidden items, they should be showing here at the App Store:

    If Aperture is not showing in your Purchases History, you need the help of Apple Support to be able to update to version 3.6.

    Only Apple Support can associate your Aperture version with your AppleID. In some cases they helped, in some cases they refused.

    thanks, the last Apple support person said nothing to do, I will just try back with more detail and see if someone will flip the switch. Thanks. Great help.

    Apple could not explain it, bu they are fixing my issue. 1 hour 22 minutes on phone, worked up to Sr. Supervisor. The tip about issuance of new license with 3.4.5 was great. They took the new long license number, verified it. Could not explain why it was not in App Store available and are sending me a redemption code to install the upgrade. Don't have it yet, but have a real name and email address to follow up with. People tend to bash Apple at times but they have come through here. If you hit a wall, like I did the first time, call back with more information and try someone new. Thanks for guidance. Community is great.
