I don't care how much money you've spent on Apple products, it's completely immaterial and irrelevant to the conversation.  When an operating system is in beta testing, that's the time for third-party developers to get their products up to speed so that they're compatible with the final release.  If you want to be mad at Apple, be mad at Apple.  Knock yourself out.  It's not going to do any good, but if it makes you feel better.....

There's an army of xerox users who get this problem after this very update. And this very update is the only one update that cause trouble.

Actually, this update supports 63 different Xerox WorkCentre printer models, as well as 79 other Xerox models. That is because Xerox updated the software for them for OS X 10.11 compatibility & made it available to Apple. There are slightly over 100 other models that Xerox no longer provides OS X software for. There is nothing Apple can do about that -- Xerox owns & provides the software, not Apple, so if you are looking for an explanation that makes sense for that decision, ask Xerox, not Apple.

Apple should do this changes softly for customers. There was not a big deal to make xerox in operating condition, then just update some drivers. I guess it's more reasonable.

What about money... hm... you shouldn't care about it, I care, not you

My point is that bragging about how much money you've spent on computers and related accessories is tacky and has nothing to do with the question the OP asked.  Keep that kind of information to yourself.

My friend))) you're always got me wrong. When I told you how much I spent, I did it for just one reason: to make you understand the level of Apple's responsibility for me like a customer, who really wished to be owner of Apples environments. If you get it like a "bragging" - it's your problem. I can count my money and I used to get all I paid for.

Mostly I expect reasonable answer from Apple instead of sidewalks people.

Good luck))) Work more, earn more)))

Thanks man, I did it. I just want to understand how this problem may occur, and how to avoid it in the future. Anyway - thanks

Then why post to these forums intended for users to help each other? Apple isn't going to answer any questions like your here.

the same reason you post unhelpful message...

As I told before - I just want to avoid that situations in the future. I'm not ready to stay helpless after next "recommended update".

    Think deeper.

    Regards

(looks funny: people pay to Apple, then helping each other... What a good business)

at first I should write to Xerox, then to Apple, after all? To the God?))) It's nice to communicate with all of you, you remains me a playground

Nothing personal, my friend, but it's not a matter of discuss. It's a matter of Apple's care

PS: your all nice people, but no one of yours has a Xerox 3045))) It makes distance between us deeper and deeper-)))

Then again I must ask, why are you posting to the Apple discussions web site (https://discussions.apple.com/)?

Like the article I just posted a link to says, the only answers you will get here are from other users. If you want to contact Apple there is info about how to do that in the linked article.

R C-R , I'm still can't get a sense of changing OS that way to make a usual printer stop to print

My Epson all-in-one works. I haven't seen an Epson update since June. Perhaps they released it for future compatibility with El Capitan, but that seems awful early in the development cycle to release a compatibility update. Never had a problem with it.

I doubt that anything significant changed in El Capitan for printers. If Xerox is using some bizarre system call that is no longer supported, it is their fault it doesn't work.

Have you attempted to delete and re-add the printer?

How about Resetting the printing system?

Sometimes, one of those will repair whatever is stopping the printer from working.

I have already posted a link to Apple's article about the available printer software. If, as you said earlier, you want to avoid this situation in the future, bookmark it or download it & refer to it before upgrading the OS again.

What other kind of help do you expect to get from these forums?
