Q: iPhone 4 and 4S overheated and died - new operating system?
Hi everyone,
About a week ago, my iPhone 4S, which I have had for about 2.5 years, started overheating and draining battery very, very quickly. This continued to happen over the course of 5-7 days. Finally, my iPhone overheated, died and refused to turn back on. I went into the Apple store and the guy tried to override the charger, but when nothing happened, he said there was nothing he could do as it was out of warranty and it was really, truly dead.
I then started using my husband's iPhone 4, which he wasn't using as he had a new phone. It was working just fine on a very old operating system from about a year ago for about a week -- until last night. I went into the Apple store and had them reboot the system so that I could upload my content from iCloud, which they did. This changed the operating system to iOS 7 and reinstalled all of my apps and the like.
Now, my phone is overheating and dying, and won't turn back on.
I've heard that other people are having serious issues with the new operating system. Any insights on whether it's the operating system or some sort of faulty app? The only new app I've downloaded recently has been Pinterest and I can't imagine this would be the cause!
Also, I'm pretty sure that if this has happened twice in a week to two different iPhones, Apple should probably replace at least one of the phones...?
Thanks for any insight/advice.
