Q: El capitan cut the support for firewire IEEE 1394 ?
Hi ,
I'm very depressed because this time the problem is very very big ....
with my " vintage " MAC PRO with firewire IEEE 1394 I have a Mixer MIDAS VENICE F24
this mixer work only with that cable .... because before post here, I have tried with a cable with a firewire 400 to a firewire IEEE 1394,
but the software don't recognize the mixer.
I updated drivers of mixer without results....
Googling appear as a solution a downgrade from el capitan to yosemite but the apple store tell me that the yosemite is no more available to download
from the italian store.
I think also to all peoples with my similar like " vintage " mac pro ( probably millions of peoples ) that may have a sound card or camera with that connection
and one day, because Apple decide to cut firewire IEEE 1394 they are in my same situation !
Why remove support to this kind of firewire ? ok is up to you, but please help me...
I have 2 questions...
1) May I downgrade to yosemite and have again the firewire IEEE 1394 support ?
If yes where I can download yosemite ? from here appear impossible.
2) May I buy a PCI Firewire card and get again working firewire IEEE 1394 ?
Any help is very appreciated.... the mixer costed a me a lot and also my MAC PRO and all expansions I done to it in these years .... like ram and new disks.
I work with this so imagine my big frustration in this moment....
thank you.
Mac Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11)

You didn't happen to have Time Machine running? I've read where you can downgrade via Time Machine.
