    Hi

    Turn off iPhone

Connect lead to USB on your PC

Press & hold power button down on iPhone don't let go

Connect lead to iphone keep power button pressed down until

Pc sees iphone then wait for restore .

You may need to do this more than once before it works .

    Cheers

    Brian

Does not work. iPhone is asking for update or restore and will not do either. Returns an error code "2001" regardless of which computer i try. They're all Macs. This happened overnight!!

Update: Whether it's my persistence or a fix from Apple I will never know... Suddenly the iPhone stopped flashing the "connect to iTunes" and displayed a near empty battery indicator. Connected to iTunes it was then business as usual, using my iCloud update to restore after zapping the thing. Phew.
