Q: softwareupdated(229) deny system-fsctl 0x682f

iMac late 2012, 1 TB HD, 8GB RAM

 

Did and Erase and Install OSX 10.11.1 from bootable USB installer. Installed fine and no issues.

 

Looking in Console - see the following

softwareupdated(229) deny system-fsctl 0x682f

 

Any help understanding this and possible solutions appreciated.

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1), 21.5 inch, late 2012, 2.7ghz, 8 GB

    What is the problem that needs a solution? Log messages are not a problem in themselves.

    Thank you for your reply.

    The problem is that I have configured in System Preferences / Apps Store / Automatically Check for Updates, Download newly available Updates in the Background, Install Apps Updates, Install OS X Updates, Install system data and Security updates, Automatically download apps Purchased on other macs, I am signed into my account.

    I knew there was updates for Pages, Keynote and Numbers ( downloaded and install on MBA day before but on the iMac, "softwareupdated" is not automatically downloading nor notifying me of the updates hence the "deny system-fsctl 0x682f" message. I verified and I was signed into the same account as my MBA, Apple System Status was not showing any issues at the time of the error message in Console.

     

    What does deny system -fsctl 0x682f mean and how to resolve

    This procedure will delete certain temporary and cache files used by the software update process. The files are automatically generated and don't contain any of your data. Occasionally they can become corrupt and cause problems such as yours.

    Back up all data and read this whole message before doing anything.

    Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

    /var/folders/zz/zyxvpxvq6csfxvn_n00000s0000068

    Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select

              Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)

    from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with a subfolder selected. The subfolder has a long name beginning with "zyx" and ending with "68". Move that subfolder to the Trash. Don't move any of the other subfolders with similar names. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash.

    *If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select

              Go ▹ Go to Folder...

    from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You may not see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

    Followed instructions exactly.

    Ran Software Update MANUALLY while have Console open.

    Still getting softwareupdated(229) deny system-fsctl 0x682f.

    Could that be because there are no updates to be downloaded?

    El Capitan Update 10.11.4 kept stopping at 125Mb for no apparent reason, this cleared the problem.
