Q: Photos not accepting extensions, does not appear in System Preferences

In El Capitan's System Preferences/Extensions, Photos does not show up in the left pane; therefore compliant apps like the latest versions of Noiseless, Snapheal etc. cannot install extensions. Has anyone with the same problem solved it?

Mac mini, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

Right church, wrong pew, perhaps. Neither the share menu nor markup is the problem. Photos either does not appear in SysPrefs/Extensions, or is "not enabled" -- thus:

The Terminal command should enable Photos. Have you tried it?

Yes, thanks, I did try it, before my previous post. It deftly re-installed all the extensions I did not need re-installed, as they were already working. But, I gave it a shot.

    Hello léonie and Eden,

I've a similar problem here. On my iMac everything runs with photos extensions as it should be, but not on my two years old MacBook Pro (Both on El Capitan). None of my extensions are showing up (beFunky, Pixelmator Distort, Snapheal CK, Tonality CK, Noiseless CK, Intensify CK, FX Photo Studio CK). Since several weeks I searched for a solution, tried the terminal command above, no way.

My first idea, there are maybe some corrupt settings files, but I don't want to try to delete without knowing which I should try.

Are you having the same version of El Capitan installed on both Macs? You need MacOS X 10.11.1 or later.

Yesterday evening I had the same problem, after downloading the kit from Macphuns website. Following a restart of the iMac and reopening of photos, snapheal and noiseless became available (tonality was already previously installed). These 3 now work fine from within photos, but noiseless is very slow.

Did the extensions ever work on that Mac?  If it is the first time you are trying to use them, launch the applications all at lear once. Then they will install the extensions. Then restart the mac.

To Léonie: No they never did, tried all this, hoped, maybe an update for Snapheal with new extension version could do the trick, but no

and to Helge, I already had five or six restarts today after all the afore-mentioned try and errors, no change at all. Photos still stays deactivated. I'm really lost on this.

    ciao but thanks

    Ralf

Probably the curse of running Beta software.

I'd reinstall the system by booting into recovery, to be sure to have a full installation, see: OS X: About OS X Recovery

Just make a current backup and install on top of your current system, you don't need a clean install.

    Ralf,

when you downloaded the kit from the website and extracted/installed the individual applications, there probably was a screen popping up that allowed you to select the applications into which you wanted the extensions installed (at least it did in my case, and "photos" was not in the selection list). I straight away downloaded a copy again, as I suspect that Macphun is in the process of updating the apps, and on second attempt I must have received a later copy so the embedment into photos worked.

In case that you are registering an older trial copy it would be worthwhile downloading a new copy again. If this also does not work, you might have to go to the Applestore and download the 3 apps from there (the price for these individual apps is much less than the total kit price anyway).

    Helge,

What version of Photos are you running and from what i've seen on the Macphun website there would not appear to be a plugin for lens correction. Did I miss something on the website or are you using a different plugin for Photos for lens correction?
