Oct 22, 2015 9:36 AM in response to macgeraldalexsonby UncleDannie,I upgraded yesterday to IOS 9.1. No failures yet, lets hope this fixes everything. If so, we can close down this thread. If not, then Apple will hear **** from everyone.

Oct 23, 2015 5:56 AM in response to UncleDannieby WDI,I'm still having the issue after installing the 9.1 update. I got two resets while installing a couple app updates. First the phone became unresponsive for a minute or so then it rebooted. Happened 2 times in a row. It did reboot faster though.

Oct 23, 2015 6:03 AM in response to WDIby TheTomeWriter,This is not the same problem most of us have been describing. Our phones were turning off (or freezing on a black screen) overnight primarily, or when off, requiring a hard reset to restart the Phone. No issues with apps installing, and no automatic reboots after crashes. Sounds like you have a different problem than described in this thread.

Oct 23, 2015 11:41 PM in response to TheTomeWriterby hambonium,I _have_ had the original problem after installing 9.1. :-(
I've found my phone 3 times since stuck on black screen. It's unresponsive until you force it to restart using Home-Power. This is a 6s on TMobile in the US.

iPhoneMine is Samsung, the only time it happened to me was during night.
I was listening to some music with the Music App, the music was on my phone (no streaming).
When I fall asleep I simply stopped the music with the EarPods. The morning I had to press home and lock button to make it restart.
It didn't happen again. I kill all apps before sleep that way I'm sure it won't replicate.

Oct 24, 2015 6:20 AM in response to hamboniumby WDI,For the people that it only primarily happens overnight or find your phone stuck on black screen, do you have auto updates on? Or do you do updates manually?
-
Oct 24, 2015 7:32 AM in response to WDIby TheTomeWriter, yes, my auto updates were turned on… And frequently did not back up to iCloud correctly. I never tested turning off auto updates or iCloud back up. But once again, ever since I went to the 9.1 beta and now 9.1 itself, I have had zero crashes or issues. Been a few weeks now. And that's after having it at least once a day before then.

Oct 25, 2015 9:03 PM in response to TheTomeWriterby hambonium,My auto-updates are off. But all apps are up to date (manually).
I do backup to iCloud sometimes - but I'm not sure how to tell if they didn't work correctly.
I've been changing my overnight habits to see if I can narrow down anything about what makes it more likely. Quitting all apps does seem to make it less likely (possibly prevents it completely). At this point, I'm trying a few additional apps each night to try to find which might be contributing to the problem (if any).
So far, I've also had one black screen during the day since upgrading to 9.1 - while the phone was unused.

Oct 27, 2015 6:28 PM in response to loïcfernandezcastrillonby acd.residence,I do not have the problem, but I do have sound distorted on 75+ volume. Anyway I am scared I do have this defect aswell,so let's try to figure it out by asking you if you put your phone facedown when you went to bed? Perhaps it's something related.

Oct 28, 2015 4:16 PM in response to oooliveeeby Whitealloy,Mi Iphone 6s 64Gb, is not working properly. Rebooting constantly even after the hard reset, I need to plug in otherwise I am not able to use it. it happens more than 10 times per day, really annoying.

Oct 28, 2015 5:18 PM in response to Whitealloyby hambonium,Still getting overnight black screens and usually at least one black screen during the day. These require hard reboot. I'm running 9.1.
When I quit all apps overnight - no black screen. But, its hardly definitive; it was one night.
The other nights, I've tried leaving a variety of apps running, hoping to narrow down the culprit (or at least contributor). At this point, only these apps were always running when the black screen occurred:
App Store
AppShopper
Other apps may also have been running but those were the apps in common. I've had as few as 2 other apps running and had it black screen so I don't think its an issue of number of apps or "memory" usage due to app usage.
On two nights where the phone did _not_ black screen and I left some apps running, neither of those apps were among the apps running.
The black screen has occurred both face up and face down... and sideways (in my pocket). :-} I don't believe that is a factor.
The black screen has occurred when the phone is plugged in and not plugged in. I don't believe that is a factor.
There was a theory floating that this has something to do with Siri usage. I do use Siri -- usually at least a few times per day. One overnight when the phone _did not_ black screen, I _did_ use Siri that evening beforehand. (And one where it _did_ black screen, I _did not_ use Siri beforehand.) Not definitive but tilts me toward thinking Siri is not a factor.
Both App Store and AppShopper are up to date.
I'll send this info in via Apple Feedback since they don't monitor these groups.

Oct 28, 2015 6:22 PM in response to oooliveeeby Kymigirl,I've had my rose gold 64GB for less then a month, it did shut down to a black screen but was able to turn it back on previously.
Yesterday it just decided to die on me, it definitely was not due to lack of battery as when I pressed the power button the screen which shows to charge did not come on - basically nothing happened.
Even doing a home button + power button did not do the trick. I haven't updated it to the latest iOS yet though and have charged it only when the battery runs out using the apple cable and socket and not with a portable charging unit. Sticking it on charge and doing the hard reset also did nothing.
There are actually less apps running on this then my iphone 5 - which didn't have any problems.
I did notice the handset being quite hot on my initial charge after getting the phone but haven't paid much attention after that as I've not used it whilst charging after that.
Spoke to Apple support last night and they tried to run me through the restart options which did not rectify the issue the phone is still dead, so have to take it back to the store today

Nov 2, 2015 8:09 PM in response to Kymigirlby hambonium,I gave up. It just got too aggravating having my phone turn off (black screen) at least twice per day every day.
I wiped my iphone and set it up as a new iphone (rather than from a backup as before). So far its been a little more than a day and I have yet to see a black screen.
I needed to pick something up from the local Apple Store (I'm lucky its local) and chatted with someone there about the problem while there. The reps at our local Store are usually quite good. The one I talked to had heard of the problem. He did initially recommend restarting the phone myself -- that this can happen when to people when they never restart their phone. But, when I told him it was happening twice a day... he said... ooooooooh. No, restart your phone once a week or so. Twice a day is ridiculous. (Yup) He recommended the wipe and setup as new that has been suggested here and elsewhere.
I do think Apple should figure out how these "corruptions" happen and fix the problem. The corruptions shouldn't crop up so often in the first place. And(/Or), the response to something being "corrupt" should never be that the phone shuts down. But, I'm done "maintaining a test environment" ;-) for that.

Nov 12, 2015 11:21 AM in response to oooliveeeby paragpatelone,I had it happen once or twice but after 9.1, it has been happening less often.
