Duane, that article refers to the Apple TV 2nd generation or later. The original Apple TV functioned more like an overgrown iPod. You synced content to it using iTunes. However, I'm not sure there's any good way to get photos back off of it.

I think only about 6 of us ever bought the first Apple TV. It looks like a Mac Mini. Apple made a significant direction change with the second generation and went streaming only.
