Q: apple music can't be copied onto an iPhone

When I tried to copy a playlist that I actually want on my phone it says apple music can't be copied onto my iPhone. Does this mean I always have to stream apple music? That would waste my data plan.

It is downloading like 800 songs onto my phone. I don't want that. There is not space for my entire music collection on my phone. I want to have just my driving music on my phone. Apple music put all of my playlists that I have ever made on my phone. I deleted them from my phone and now they are gone from my laptop. I don't want to have to scroll through like a million playlists on my phone. I want my playlists back on my laptop.

I thought this would just work like iTunes did before with my phone but its all screwy. Why is it so hard to figure out? This is making me sad. I drove around listening to the radio today. It sucked.

Also I had to type this whole thing out 2 times because the forum crashed or something...

How are you trying to "copy" it? Do you mean you are trying to use the sync feature in iTunes? If so, then that is the issue. This support article should help:

Add music from the Apple Music catalog to your library on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or PC - Apple Support

And this support page is a good reference source:

Apple Music - Manage Your Music - Apple Support

    Cheers,

Also now when I try to remove a song from my phone it says it will delete that song from all my devices. That is not what I want. I would like to have my iPhone function as it did before iCloud and apple music but just add the songs I get from apple music.

I did read the article and it is not working like the article says.

Sounds like you need to make the music available offline (also very sorry you had to listen to radio I know how awful that is). Open up apple music and search for the songs you want, click on the 3 dots next to the song and select "Make Available Offline." I don't think there is a way to import your playlist, so you will have to do it for each song. The songs should be in "My Music" and you can make a new playlist from your "downloaded" songs.

    I appreciate your help.

This is very frustrating. I was under the impression that iTunes and iPhone would function the same way as they did before apple music, just with more sings. This is apparntly not the case.

Now there are albums on my phone I want off my phone. I can't delete the entire album. The iPhone only lets me do it song by song.

This is why I am leaving apple music.

I don't want all the songs on all the devices. I have 2 computers, an iPhone, and an iPad. I don't need to see every song on every device. It never gave me an option to chose what goes where. Apple music just dumped everything everywhere but somehow blocked access to what I wanted on each device. Also taking up all the space on my iPhone and now I can't take pictures.

Right, because you subscribed to a streaming music service, and iCloud Music Library. I think you probably should have spent a little time taking the guided tour and reading up on the service. It doesn't sound like something you want, because the intention is to make the entire music library available on all of your devices and computers.

iCloud Photo library is the same concept. Both house all of the media in iCloud and make it available to be accessed on any device.

Based on your posts, I would say it would be a good idea not to renew your subscription, and to go back to the old-fashioned syncing.

    Best of luck,
