My Epson Stylus NX510 will no longer scan to my MacBook Pro with OSX 10.9.5; Image Capture no longer recognizes it. Can this problem be fixed?

MacBook Pro (15-inch 2.53 GHz), OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

    Yes, I can print as normal. It's only the scan function that no longer works. I assume this is related to a software update, because this was never a problem before.

    My NX510 scans perfectly in ElCapitan, just as it did in Yosemite, no new drivers were downloaded.

    You may have to try & see if by getting the same drivers again from Epson support,

    the original features may be restored. However be wary of Epson printer downloads

    because one suggested to me by a 'geek genius' where I bought a printer, turned in

    to a 1GB download which compromised my monthly internet ceilings + wasn't needed.

     

    Have you tried to de-select and re-select the printer, or just restart the computer

    and repair disk permissions? Does the printer function in another user account?

    Appreciate the useful suggestions, and especially the word that the scanner was working for someone else. After downloading new driver software, deselecting and reselecting the printer, turning the printer off and on, and trying various other things, I took K Shaffer's suggestion and just restarted the computer. That did the trick.

     

    Damned if I understand what makes these machines work!
