Q: Ipad Pro shuts off while charging and requires a hard reset to turn on

Yes. Same problem here. Got the pro on Wednesday, and it requires hard reboot after charging. This is unacceptable.  Starting to lose faith.

forgot to say set up from iCloud restore, 128 GB Wi-Fi iPad  pro.

Same issue 128gb cellular.  Took first one back to Apple because it had the  same issue. The brand new replacement iPad pro has the the same problem.

I just received my 128GB WiFi iPad Pro yesterday afternoon, set it up using a backup from my iPad Air 2, connected it to the wall charger overnight and it would not turn on this morning until I did a re-boot.  A friend in Switzerland with the same unit is also having the same problem.  I will be calling Apple Support, but wanted to add my issue to this growing thread.

try

settings > general > handoff & suggested apps > uncheck handoff & Installed apps

seemed to be one of causes problem (crash switch off when in sleep) But essentially problem is firmware & unknown app interaction

Same here...Ended up exchanging my unit for another as after the second "death" I was unable to get it on at all. At least I was able to perform the unboxing ritual twice!

The issue that I am facing is with iPad 3 WiFi cellular. I'm waiting to see if I localize the problem. When I do, I'm opening the device and fixing it as my device is out of warranty.

OK new iPad same issue, turning off hand off same issue, sit back and Waite for update or new surface to be delivered lol

So far I do not have this issue. I purchased mine directly from Apple online on Wednesday (in the UK), after unpacking it and before starting it up, I plugged it into the mains charger and left to charge for several hours.

I then opened up the Pro and set it up as new. Have since put on charge using both mains and from Mac and still no issues. I shall post back here as and when any issue develops when I give it harder usage. My model is the 128Gb Slate Grey with Wi-Fi.

Same issue here. I just got my iPad Pro two days ago and I have to make a deep reset(press and hold wake button and home button) to fix this problem.

I've been doing this for several times. I purchased a 128G WiFi from Apple online store.

BTW, I setup up it as a new device without restoring or syncing to any backups or computers.

Got mine on wednesday. 128 with cellular. Charged twice with no problem then third charge today I had to reset. Twice the battery was under 10% so that doesn't seem to be the issue.

It seems to be a genreralized problem... I have exactly the same issue!

Didn't find a solution yet...

Quite annoying...
