Q: Ipad Pro shuts off while charging and requires a hard reset to turn on

Hello,

 

I got my iPad Wednesday, spent the evening getting it all setup.  Restored from back up, ensured everything was there, wiped my iPad air 2 (sold it), deleted it's back up and went on with my normal routine.

 

At night it was down to 40% so I charged it and went to bed.  When I woke up it was "dead".  It wouldn't wake up.  I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to come to life.  Worked on it for a couple of hours and had to run an errand.  Plugged it back in as I was going to need a full charge later that day.  Came back to it, same thing.  Dead.  I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to turn on.

 

Used it more, then last night plugged it in and this morning, same thing.  I am thinking that there is an issue with this iPad.

 

I am now restoring it, since that it what online support recommended I try.  Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue?

    Hi, same here.  Purchased on Friday.  128GB WiFi version.  Saturday am hard reset.  Sunday am hard reset.  Plugged in both evenings for overnight charging. 

     

    Restored from backup of older iPad 2.  Running latest iOS Gen release 9.1. 

     

    I will wait for Apple to send out a fix for this rather then trying to replace.  Seems that does not help nor does setting up as new device. 

     

    Hopefully 9.2 will solve or .1.x update will.

    Same issues here.  Required a hard reset twice so far due to sleep during full charge.

     

    Setup as new iPad, 128GB Silver WiFi.

    SAme issue here both nights so far.  Will try Airplane mode tonight

    I am having the same problem with mine. I also have a problem with when I leave it for a few minutes and come back to use it, it won't turn on. I have to hard boot it to work. I just wanted to chime in so Apple can see there is a problem. I guess I will be on support with them today.

    Have had to hard reset 2 times so far. I left it off the charger overnight and now the screen is unresponsive. Touch ID lets me passed the lock screen but the whole screen is unresponsive. UGH!  Taking it back to Apple today.

    I Have the same issue.  I have had it from day 1.  I could not find anyone else posting about it at first so I waited.  I got really busy with other stuff and finally got to look for posts.  Seems to be everywhere now.  I hate crap like this and really hope we don't need to do an exchange.  They usually end up being an endless cycle of trips to the Apple Store.

    128 GB wifi here, same problem. never did a full charge until now to test it. left it to charge an hour or two to go from 70 to 100 % and it was dead. I'm installing a public beta ios release right now to see if that fixes the problem, worth a try I guess!

    Same here, 4 days in a row, plus today it just shut off in the middle of photos app. Had hard restart. 128Gb

    I Was advised by Apple chat support to do a iTunes based restore of my iPad pro which I did two days ago. So far so good. I've charged it twice once overnight and the problem was fixed. Fingers crossed there are no more problems with mine but Apple needs to get this resolved with a software update quickly as I know others are not able to resolve this with the methods suggested by Apple.

    I'm having the same problem, hard re-set needed on every charge, contacted Apple support was advised to do a ITunes restore, not done this yet as I can't see that anyone has posted to say it has solved the problem. Thinking of taking it back to store tomorrow, but very disappointed as they don't have a replacement in stock, I have noticed that this problem mainly seems to be with the 128GB model. Really hoping this just needs an apple update to fix the problem! Question is do I wait or return!

    Same problem here - 128 Gb Cellular Slate grey, very disappointing Apple!

    Will try the Airplane setting tonight to see if that offers short term solution.

    At least it doesn't appear that I'm alone with this problem!

    I think that Apple should give us some estimate of time to fix this.

    Would be nice to get a official statement agreeing there is a problem and let us know whether we need to wait for a update or return our iPads...come on Apple. What's being done to remedy this?

    Purchase iPad pro 32 wifi on Friday ( the 13th) and has same issue with hard reset needed after charge. Original setup as new device, then restored from iTunes backup of older  iPadAir.
