I've tried
1. stop/unplug/wait/plug/wait/start .
2. remove the battery
3.press the switch on the middle/back of the mainboard
none of these action worked for me .

Regarding the Via card, do you have drivers for the OSX version yo are running?

The problem with the USB card is that will not start working before the driver is loaded by the OS so I'm not able to use any startup key combination
(ex: reseting the PRAM or starting the bootcamp)
