So is it a 1999 Blueberry, Grape, Strawberry, Tangerine, Lime, or Graphite?

But then your system information says 2009 . If it is a 2009 you can upgrade it to El Capitan (10.11).

If the iMac is truly a 1999 model it has a PowerPC processor and can't run any OS X later than 10.3.9 or 10.4.11 depending on the model.

If a 2009 model as Duane thinks it might be then you can upgrade to El Capitan by going to the App Store and download and install it.  Unless you have previously purchased and installed Yosemite from the App Store it won't be available to you.  Therefore you'll have to upgrade to El Capitan.

If you only have the basic 4 GB of memory installed I suggest you upgrade that to 8 GB with modules from Crucial.com or Otherworldcomputing.com. 4 GB is the minimum recommend and the older iMac will struggle a bit.

As of iPhoto, which version do you currently have? If it's some version of iPhoto 9.x you'll be able to get iPhoto 9.6.1 from the App Store after upgrading to El Capitan.

If you have iPhoto 8.1.2 or earlier you'll have to begin using the new Photos app that is installed with El Capitan.
