Q: Ipad Pro shuts off while charging and requires a hard reset to turn on

Hello,

 

I got my iPad Wednesday, spent the evening getting it all setup.  Restored from back up, ensured everything was there, wiped my iPad air 2 (sold it), deleted it's back up and went on with my normal routine.

 

At night it was down to 40% so I charged it and went to bed.  When I woke up it was "dead".  It wouldn't wake up.  I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to come to life.  Worked on it for a couple of hours and had to run an errand.  Plugged it back in as I was going to need a full charge later that day.  Came back to it, same thing.  Dead.  I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to turn on.

 

Used it more, then last night plugged it in and this morning, same thing.  I am thinking that there is an issue with this iPad.

 

I am now restoring it, since that it what online support recommended I try.  Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue?

    Second night of fully charging my iPad on 9.2 beta - no freezing. Seems like 9.2 really fixed it! Try it guys, so far I didn't find any annoying bugs in the beta, works as it should!

    HI all. All problems are SOLVED after I installed iOS 9.2 beta 3. At least for me. At least for one nightly charge. But that's the first night it hasn't locked up. Others seem to have had the same experience. Will report back and tell you if this works for the following recharges, too.128 GB, LTE

    I followed your suggestions because your logic is solid... thanks so much... i have been sitting here for 90 minutes, charging at 100% with no crashes for the first time since I got my Pro today.

     

    Looks like we HAVE to get a software update soon

    My iPad Pro is dead every morning, too. Waiting for the 9.2 update!

    So, last night this didn't happen. Before charging I turned off backup to iCloud. what's interesting is that this morning I had to re-enter my iCloud password. Is it possible something with iCloud software is going wrong and crashing the iPad pro?

    I have to re-enter my iCloud password every day even after shut offs and hard resets. That seems to be another bug!????

    I'm having same problem. Ipad Pro 128G wifi Space grey. Needs hard reset after full charge via cable. will wait for 9.2

    NO problems this morning so far.  Charged 100% over night and started right up.  Did nothing different.  Used the charging cord that came wit it.  Will let you know as day goes by If I have any more issues.  so far so good.

    used an Apple TV lightning cord, still had to hard reset this morning.   Guess I'll try Airplane mode tonight

    Never had the shut-down/dead issue. Received iPad Pro 128g Cellular on November 12th. First thing I did was "restore from iTunes backup".

     

    Looks like the 9.2 update will fix the issue for those having it.

     

    After five days of fairly constant use, the iPad Pro is a fantastic machine. Only issue I had was with the Logitech Create keyboard. Persistent connection issues with the Smart Connector every few words. Went to Best Buy and bought a new one that had Logitech's new "Logi" branding and it worked perfectly out of the box. Returning the Logitech Create keyboard to Apple today.

    My first two days I charged overnight and IPad pro, 128 WiFi, was dead.  Had to do a hard reset.  Sunday night I turned the "Handoff" off and was good to go yesterday morning and did NOT need to do a hard reset.  Just to do a little experimenting I turned the "Handoff" back on last night prior to charging for the night.  This morning, I was good to go again with no hard reset.  So - who knows.  Two mornings having to do a hard reset and two mornings not having to.  I have used the charging cord that came with the IPad pro every time.  I'm perplexed????

    Happended again. Brand new ipad. This one with LTE. I will try the airplane mode te tonight.

    I received my Gold 128GB Verizon cellular iPad yesterday (for those who don't know, Verizon offers a $100 discount with a 2 yr contract).  Set up from iCloud backup yesterday, and charged overnight.  Would not start this morning without a hard boot (hold power and home button for 10 seconds).  I have a call with Apple in 5 minutes, I plan to ask for Level 2 support right off the bat. 

     

    Hard to believe Apple did not discover this in testing.  Ridiculous, in fact.  $180billion in the bank, and still having these types of issues? Really?

     

    Very frustrating.
