Q: unable to enter username when connecting to wifi


When trying to connect to wifi at work, I am prompted to enter a username and password.  I am unable to enter a username - when I go to that field nothing happens.  I have no issues entering a password, but without a username I an stuck.  What do I do?

iPhone 6, iOS 9.1

OK, I finally figured it out (thanks to a friend who used to work at an Apple Store).  If you go into settings and click "reset all settings" it should fix the issue.  You will have to re enter wifi passwords, fingerprints, etc.  You won't lose any data or anything else though.

    I have the exact same issue--If I first click on the user name field the keyboard doesn't come up.  I can click on the password field and it brings up the keyboard, but if I click back on the username field I can't type.  This seems to have just started after updated to 9.1.  I have an iPhone 6 also.

    You need to talk to your network administrator. Our wi-fi for guest connections does not require a username to be entered.

    Exactly my problem!  It's very annoying - and I travel a lot for work.  I want to fix it before I have issues in an airport or hotel

    We have over 10,000 people in our company....I don't think they will change the login procedure.  It is required I'm sure because they want to have control over knowing which employees are logged in to the network.  I don't have a problem with that (not doing anything I shouldn't be doing at work).  Before the 9.1 update I could type the user name in just fine, so an unnecessary change was made and that no longer works.

    No one else has this issue with their iphones - just me.  It happened after the update - I has no issues before this.

    Are other people using iOS 9.1 as well without any issues? If so, then it would be reasonable to assume it is something on your device and not with iOS. Are you able to connect to other wi-fi locations that don't require a user name such as your home wi-fi?

    Yes, any other wifi where I don't have to enter a user name is fine.  It's just at work where we have to enter our user ID and password that I have the problem.  I haven't spoken to anyone else who has upgraded to 9.1 so not sure if the issue is just with my device.

    It is just me.  We had an outside vendor come in with the same phone and OS and she could connect with no issues.

    One of our IT guys just checked and he could log in with no problems also.  He suggested doing a full backup of my phone and then doing a complete reset, which makes me nervous.  I'm going to hold off on doing that for awhile and hopefully figure it out.

    I am having the same issue connecting to my work wifi, which requires user name and password,

    while connecting to the guest wifi for the first time it took more than 5 min, before it prompted me with the username / password.

    I am using iPhone 6s with latest OS, 9.1

    Got the issues resolved, after restarting the phone had to toggle the user name and password fields couple of times..

    Same issue here. It appeared in 9.1, i downgraded to 9.01 and the issue went away.

    Updated to 9.1 again, the issue came back. Im now on the 9.2 beta and the issue is in there as well.

    I cannot enter a Username in the relevant box - you can select the box, but a keyboard does not appear. If you select the password box then the keyboard does appear, but if you then go back to the username entry box, it does not respond to any entries on the keyboard.

    Now cannot use wifi in two separate office buildings.
