Q: El Capitan broke my AppleTV

I recently upgraded my MacBook Pro from 10.9 to 10.11.

Prior to the upgrade, my ATV was visible to the Mac. When I clicked on the AirPlay icon in the menu bar, the ATV appeared in the drop-down list, and I could send my screen (slide shows, videos, audio, etc.) from the Mac to the ATV.

After upgrading to 10.11, the ATV has vanished. When I click on the MacBook's AirPlay icon (in the menu bar), the drop-down reveals AirPlay: Off in gray.

The ATV (and my network) is working fine. My wife's MacBook Air (still with 10.8) sees the ATV, and can send content to it.

Needless to say, both MacBooks are connected to my LAN over WiFi, via an Airport Extreme.  The ATV is hard-wired (ethernet cable) to the LAN.

From the MacBook Pro, I can ssh into the ATV, so I'm pretty sure this is not a connectivity issue. It's something to do with the upgrade to El Capitan.
