Q: About how long does it take for your iMessage to activate? (I have been waiting for 5 hours now).

Something has occurred with my iMessage and it doesn't allow me to send or receive iMessages from my phone number, but it allows me to send iMessages from my email associated to my apple account.

 

I have connected both Apple Support and my carrier -- both telling to wait up to 24 hours for it to activate. This is odd considering I have never had an issue with iMessage in the past. My question is to folks who have been in the same situation: how long did it take to activate? I am a tad impatient, but i'm missing out on texts from work/family/friends.
