Q: If file vault is on does it affect Time Capsule backups?
If I have File Vault turned on for my MacBook Pro, does that affect my Time Capsule backups?
Do I need the security key to open data on the Time Capsule backup data?
Intel Mac, Mac OS X (10.5.3), It's huge.

The reference to Pondini has been pulled down.. but you can still see the cached version.
What is important here is that Time Machine will work inside the encryption..otherwise the backup would be unreadable and useless.
It does not store encrypted backup by default. In other words by default the TM backup of an encrypted drive is not encrypted.. but since Lion ?? you can encrypt the backups.. TM handles this itself.. and this is entirely separate to the drive encryption.
