Q: Use iMac27 as a target display of MacBook Air
Hi,
I want to use my iMac27 late 2009 as a target display of my MacBook Air mid 2012.
Connected through Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cable as advised by Apple (see below table).
Both have Apple wireless keyboards.
MacBook Air, mid 2012 with Thunderbolt port (Yosemite OSX 10.10.5)
iMac27, late 2009 with Mini DisplayPort (Yosemite OSX10.10.3)
iMacs you can use | Cable | Port you need on your other Mac |
iMac (27-inch Late 2009) | Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort | Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt |
Through the Cmd-F2 key on my iMac27 the MacBook should be displayed on the Mac27, but it doesn't......
Are there any Apple keyboard type/version constraints?
Are special keyboard settings needed ?
Keyboard details: one holds 3 batteries and the other 2
Up till now I could not find advise or more detailed description for a solution.
Does anybody have an advise ?
Thanks in advance
iMac, Mac OS X (10.0.x), 27-inch Late 2009

I just discovered from the old iMac27 late 2009 manual the original keyboard holds two (2) batteries.
I will check and couple the right keyboard to the iMac27 and see what happens.
If still nothing happens I only can conclude the cable (new) is broken.
