    Hi there Rogers!

It sou ids like your iTunes application is experiencing some performance issues when you try to use it after a recent software update. There can be a number of possibilities that might cause that to happen, so I would recommend first checking for third party plugins that might be interfering with the way that the application is operating:

iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203395

Next I would check out possible conflicts with installed security software if the above article doesn't seem to resolve it:

Resolve issues between iTunes and third-party security software

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201413

If the issue is still persisting then I would next recommend removing and reinstalling iTunes on your computer with this article:

Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows 7 and later

I've tried everything listed here and still have tremendous issues with 12.3.1. Even downgraded to 12.1 and iTunes is still a train wreck right now.

Can't do the simply command in iTunes without the CPU% shooting up to 100.5, or more. Clicking between songs, dragging into a playlists, uploading a CD, etc.

Five trips to the Genius Bar at the local Apple store. Read countless threads on the subject. No answer in site. Apple tech launched iTunes in Guest mode today on my machine and even just tooling around in the iTunes Store, the CPU% shot up to 40+.

Time for Apple to come correct with an iTunes update, already instead of not admitting this is the issue—sending customers down the rabbit hole with all these other fixes that do nothing to fix the issue. I was even advised to rebuild my entire iTunes library—25K songs, 400+ playlists, etc. What a waste of time that would be. Bogus advice.

I ended up uninstalling everything to do with Itunes and Quicktime and then reinstalled version 12.3.0 and haven't had a problem since.
