Q: When will Windows 10 be supported on the new iMac Retina 5K Late 2015 model?

When will Windows 10 be supported on the new iMac Retina 5K Late 2015 model?  I tried installing and it gets all the way through the install and then I get a black screen right as it gets to the part where the UI should present.  It seems like maybe the discrete AMD video is causing an issue or is not supported yet?

Based on JuergenW15's observation, the screen goes black after the first login (the driver is the generic VGA driver during the first login), so that is not an issue. If it happens after first boot, it is the GPU-specific driver. Also, if safe mode works, the Generic VGA driver is fine. On W10, since all available GPUs are exposed by EFI under normal circumstances, the best method is to enable debugging in safe mode and see which driver fails to load. My suspicion is that an unsigned driver (similar to the AppleSSD.sys saga) is involved, but boot login is the ultimate authority in this matter on who is to blame.

Bootcamp.xml exists on the USB Installer in the Bootcamp folder (or OSXRESERVED partition).

The ISO is downloaded from Microsoft which is the source. Your downloaded copy is supposed to be identical. The MD5/SHA1 should be compared between the two. The strange decision by M$ not to publish such checksums on downloadable content is beyond comprehension.

So now we're all the way back to my very first post ... so any ideas on a solution?  I'm assuming we now just have to wait for Windows/Apple/AMD to update drivers for Win10?

I have Windows 10 on an old Mac Pro. And after I had installed an update or new software (Minecraft) it does the same thing. I have to put the Mac Pro to sleep, by holding the power button down. Let it sleep for a few seconds, then wake it up. Not sure what update has caused this, but until I work that out, I can still use it.

One option to test, if you have an expendable W10 installation, is to remove W10, remove the AMD driver set from the installer built by BCA (only if a USB installer is used) and verifying that it works without the AMD driver and uses the generic drivers.

FYI to everyone ... I checked the Apple support site yesterday and low and behold the iMac Retina 5K (Late 2015) model now shows up on the list of supported for Windows 10.

I tried the Boot Camp assistant again tonight and Windows 10 installed just fine.  So they must've updated the driver support for the new AMD graphics.

    Everything is working fine now.

    Thanks

    Hi

I tried to install windows 10 again and I get the same problem as earlier, the screen just goes totally black when installing the bootcamp drivers.

It didn't help for me that apple have updated their list with the late 2015 Imac 27 5K

What is happening and why does it still not work?

This is beginning to be very frustrating, any ideas anyone?

Please start a new discussion and provide a bit more detail on the installation steps you are using.

Leave this problem alone for a few months. You are pushing against a wall, and it is not moving.
